- Providing accurate secretarial support to GPs, including copy typing of letters and preparation of various documentation.
- Administering of referrals.
- Liaising with various stakeholders such as hospitals, patients and other GP practices.
- Receiving and responding to tasks and telephone enquiries referring them to the appropriate member of the practice if required.
- Monitoring and responding to eConsults allocated to secretaries.
- Recording of insurance reports, claim forms and requests from solicitors.
- Administering of deaths and associated paperwork liaising with our GPs, families and undertakers.

- Good working knowledge of SystmOne.
- The ability to meet deadlines and have excellent attention to detail.
- Ideally, experience of working in general practice as a medical secretary.
- Knowledge of medical terminology would be advantageous, but training will be provided.

Job summary
South Street Surgery has a fantastic for a medical secretary to join our existing team of three on a part-time basis, for 21 hours per week, Monday, Wednesday & Friday 9am-5pm. The purpose of the role is to provide secretarial and administrative support to all the partners, GPs, health professionals and colleagues within the practice.

South Street Surgery operates from three premises in the town of Bishops Stortford, providing services for about 23,500 patients. We are a busy training practice who support our team to train and develop in their roles. We are proud to hold an Investors in People Award. We work closely with the other local practices in Stort Valley and Villages PCN to develop our vision for the future of primary care services in this area.
Bishops Stortford is a thriving town, with excellent schools and facilities. We are in easy reach of London and Cambridge.
