      The mission of the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) is to promote and support a workforce system that creates value and offers employers, individuals and communities the opportunity to achieve and sustain economic prosperity. To support our mission, we are looking for a Medical Services Coordinator I-III (MSC I-III) to join the Vocational Rehabilitation Department team. This position is located at 1411 Brazos Street, Austin, Tx.

      You must be a Texas resident to work for the Texas Workforce Commission or willing to relocate to Texas.

      The Medical Services Coordinator I-III (MSC I-III) is selected by and responsible to the Program Support Manager, with the approval of the Deputy Regional Director. Performs moderately complex (journey-level) to highly complex (senior-level) social service or case management work. Work involves collecting, preparing, and reviewing cases to facilitate access to medical and other services; and providing intervention and frequent contact with individuals, facilities, and service providers. Work is performed under general to limited supervision, with moderate to considerable latitude for the use of initiative, utilizing the automated case management system, ReHabWorks.

      GENERAL DUTIES:
      - Establishes physical restoration, budget management, courtesy case records, and schedules.
      - Coordinates medical services for customers, negotiating fees, identifies comparable benefits purchasing, monitoring, and case reviews.
      - Implements and manages a recruitment process for medical providers to include physicians, psychologists, hospitals and other healthcare providers within an assigned geographic area.
      - Ensures providers meet required qualifications and licensure of appropriate medical and professional boards as per policy.
      - Establishes and maintains effective business relationships with providers and staff and provides ongoing training regarding medical and physical restoration services.
      - Maintains and increases knowledge of medical terminology and procedure coding.
      - Serves as team leader to assigned support staff.
      - May train others.
      - Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

      PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
      - MSC I: Experience coordinating medical services and recruiting medical providers.
      - MSC II: Two years’ experience coordinating medical services and recruiting medical providers.
      - MSC III: Three years’ experience coordinating medical services and recruiting medical providers.

      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
      MSC I - Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in human services, social science, business, or a related field plus two years of full-time qualifying experience in social and rehabilitative services work, teaching and counseling persons with disabilities, social services, medical eligibility, or entitlement programs.
      MSC II - Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in human services, social science, business, or a related field plus two years and six months of full-time qualifying experience in social and rehabilitative services work, teaching and counseling persons with disabilities, social services, medical eligibility, or entitlement programs.
      MSC III - Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in human services, social science, business, or a related field plus three years of full-time qualifying experience in social and rehabilitative services work; teaching and counseling persons with disabilities, social services, medical eligibility, or entitlement programs.
      For all levels, Twelve semester hours of graduate study from an accredited college or university may be substituted for each year of the required qualifying experience and one additional year of full-time qualifying experience may be substituted for each year (30 semester hours) of the required college.

      Duties involve up to 15% travel (method of transportation is the responsibility of employee) and the ability to lift/carry 10 pounds.
