- Typing of day-to-day correspondence on behalf of the medics/nurses.
- To provide the secretarial support to clinics and meetings including creating and distributing lists.
- Ensuring investigation results are available as required.
- Use relevant IT systems and databases.
- Respond to telephone queries.
- English language GCSE grade C or above or equivalent qualification.
- Maths GCSE grade C or above or equivalent qualification.
- RSA Level 2 or equivalent Audio typing and computer skills
- Medical Secretarial AMSPAR qualification or equivalent
- Audio Typing
- Experience of working in a busy office and dealing with conflicting demands
- Experience as a medical secretary in a health care setting.
- Touch typing
- Confident in use of computer packages such as Word and able to learn new systems
- Good telephone manner
- Excellent communication and good interpersonal skills
- Ability to use LE2.2/ Lorenzo

Job summary
Band 3 Medical Support Secretary - Rheumatology 22.5 hrs per week
Fixed term for 6 months
We are looking for a highly organised medical support secretary, with previous experience in a similar setting to undertake this role within the Rheumatology Service, based at the Royal Bolton Hospital. You will work alongside Senior Medical Secretaries and carry out clinical typing and co-ordination of patient's case notes/test results, amongst other office duties.Candidates should be articulate, capable of undertaking a demanding workload and able to demonstrate a significant level of initiative. Candidates should possess advanced keyboard skills including word processing skills to at least RSA II or equivalent level /experience, also English Language and Maths GCSE Grade C or above. Previous secretarial experience, knowledge of and audio typing is essential. You must be able to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to prioritise workload and be able to work with little supervision. You should be able to integrate well with the existing team and have a genuine desire to provide a quality service to all patients and knowledge of the NHS are desirable.Interviewees will be asked to complete a typing test.
