      Organizational Unit Overview

      The Greenville CDSA is a part of the ECU Brody School of Medicine’s Department of Pediatrics and contractually serves as the primary portal of entry for the N.C. Infant-Toddler Program for seven counties in the eastern region of NC.

      Job Duties

      The Early Intervention Medical Therapeutic Specialist is responsible for: providing eligibility evaluations using standardized testing methods; developmental assessments of strengths and needs; written reports of results with suggested strategies which respond to the goals and priorities of the family; consultation/teaching within area of expertise with families, providers, and service coordinators relative to the outcomes and activities agreed upon on the Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP); and direct therapeutic interventions with children and caregivers within specialty area when a CDSA network provider is unable to meet the needs as outlined on the IFSP. The Specialist may be assigned the responsibility of Service Coordination for select families as needed.

      This position may provide supervision and consultation to less experienced Specialists and Service Coordinators, service providers within the community, and/or Students and Volunteers.

      Minimum Education/Experience

      Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in the therapeutic specialty area to which assigned. Some positions may require additional training, certifications, or licensure in speech pathology, audiology, occupational therapy, physical therapy, or other fields. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

      License or Certification required by statute or regulation

      Licensed Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist or Speech Language Pathologist

      Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

      Experience with pediatric populations preferred, birth to three experience a plus.

      Experience with family directed service provision preferred.

      Experience with home and community based programming preferred.

      Experience applying developmental assessments, evaluations and therapeutic interventions preferred.

      License or Certification required by the Department

      Valid driver’s license and clear motor vehicle driving record to meet ECU requirements for operating motor vehicles in the University motor fleet.
