  Summary
  
  
  The responsibility of a transcriptionist is to transcribe and edit all notes dictated on the Digital Dictation System in an acceptable, pre-determined timely manner, thus making it available in the patient's medical record quickly, helping to ensure quality care.

  EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
  • Education and Work Experience:
  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED
  • Must possess 2 years experience transcribing in acute care setting.
  • Must be experienced in operation of standard web-based PC transcription software/hardware.

  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize one or more of the following:
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner.
  • Must be able to work independently and possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must possess the ability to effectively communicate and deal tactfully with other personnel, visitors, patients, physicians, customers, and the general public.
  • Must be flexible, have personal integrity, and the ability to function effectively as a team with other employees.
  • Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Other Requirements:
  • Must possess excellent medical terminology, anatomy and grammar skills.
  • Must be organized and efficient in use of typing time.
  • Volunteer for rotating Holiday beeper coverage.
  • Must be able to accurately type 150 lines per hour both editing voice recognition and straight transcribing.
  • Must be able to type accurately.
  • Must be able to operate business machinery.
