If you want an investment in your future and be involved in developing the health of our community then this is the role for you. We would like to invite you to join us at Queensway Medical Centre. This position is 25 hours Per Week starting at 9am until 2pm Monday to Friday.
Queensway Medical Centre is a friendly, supportive and well-established training GP practice. We provide training for GP registrar, medical students and clinical pharmacist. We are working from Poulton Le Fylde town, just outside of Blackpool. Our GPs recognise that the quality of medicines management at the practice is vital to ensure safe, effective and appropriate prescribing.
This is a new and exciting role to work alongside our evolving medicine management team to support patient medications and maintain patient safety. So, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate confidence in consulting patient and their carer as well as communicating effectively with practice team to provide best patient care. The role will be extremely varied, with the opportunity to deal with daily queries, support medication reviews, develop practice policies and conduct audit work.
Applicants are welcome from those with existing primary care or GP practice experience or applicants that have a keen interest to develop experience in primary care medical services.
Main duties of the job
To process, all repeat medication requests electronic and paper sent in by patients in accordance with Practice guidelines
To process all repeat medication requests from the surgery NHS Mail box at least twice daily.
To collect and process repeat prescription requests from the, post box and reception.
To process, all nomad medication requests electronically
To liaise with patients and chemists regarding queries and requests.
To ensure that patient queries on medication are highlighted to the relevant Pharmacist either Community or Practice.
Ensure adequate provision and security of prescription paper
Initiating contact with and responding to prescribing requests from patients, other team members and associated healthcare agencies and providers
To regularly go through prescriptions not picked up and unlikely to be picked up as a result of the timescale, to detail in the patient records and then destroy the prescription (2 months old)
To adhere to the Death protocol in respect of prescriptions
Be aware of monitoring requirements for selected drugs and follow up required monitoring with patients.
Ensure appropriate health checks and medications reviews are undertaken.
Computer data entry/data allocation and collation; processing and recording information in accordance with Practice procedures.
Establish and maintain filing and administrative systems so that written or computerised information is easily accessible and secure.
