- Establishes, implements, and leads the development of product, channel, and experience strategy for one or more priority member segments / sub-segments.
- Partner with product and channel teams to drive delivery of multi-line value proposition with / to members through differentiated products and client experiences for prioritized member segments.
- Provides expertise and leads analysis of banking and insurance landscape for priority / assigned segments, identify emerging trends, opportunities, and competitive threats from within financial services and adjacent industries.
- Develop deep insight for prioritized segments based on member needs, right to win, and potential value to USAA by leveraging data and analytics resources, including member and market research, competitive analysis, pricing analytics, member engagement (e.g., personalization, life event recognition) and business subject matter expertise.
- Orchestrate initiatives supporting priority segments and align interactions with other USAA strategic projects; partner with LOB teams to drive implementation, including but not limited to project execution (e.g., timelines, roadmap, critical path, milestones, deliverables, business case).
- Establishes metrics to track & monitor the execution of all prioritized segmentation initiatives across the enterprise and communicates progress to senior leadership.
- Cultivate strategic relationships with marketing, channel, and business partners and other senior leaders to understand internal member needs, gain alignment and communicate current segment status.
- Serve as a change champion, creating clarity from ambiguity to drive change initiatives, engagement and adoption.
- Identify potential coordination initiatives with USAA Ventures, USAA Foundation and other teams to formulate strategic and/or community partnerships to help deliver distinctive solutions and experiences, as applicable.
- Identifies and manages existing and emerging risks that stem from business activities and the job role.
- Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled.
- Follows written risk and compliance policies, standards, and procedures for business activities.
- Bachelor’s degree OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
- 8 years of progressive customer segment strategy / execution roles, product management, or strategy consulting experience.
- Demonstrated experience in leading customer segmentation and/or customer value proposition delivery in a large financial institution.
- Expertise in segmentation theories, techniques and/or technologies and related application in a financial services or consumer business environment.
- Experience leading or partnering with marketing teams to drive impactful outcomes and/or with product and digital teams to shape and influence product and digital roadmaps.
- Deep experience leading teams to develop strategic recommendations for growth initiatives.
- Ability to influence decisions and achieve outcomes in a matrixed environment.
- Expert communicator with the ability to synthesize and structure complex information and deliver it clearly with the right level of detail based on the audience.
- Experience leading cross-functional projects and initiatives.
- MBA or an advanced degree
- Deep knowledge of consumer banking and insurance; familiarity with unique financial service needs of the military community
- Expertise in data management and analytical principles to generate high quality customer insights that help inform enterprise strategy, including triangulation of data from multiple sources and an ability to translate complex analytics into digestible insights.
- Extensive experience leading through change while inspiring confidence throughout the organization.
- US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner

We are seeking a dedicated Segmentation Principal to support the Vice President, Enterprise Member Segmentation Leader.
This position is a hybrid work type and can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX or Charlotte, NC. Hybrid roles help employees gain the best of both worlds – collaborating in person in the office and working from home when needed to achieve focused results.
Responsible for primary segment category ownership for prioritized segments (e.g., Getting Started, Gaining Traction or Loyal Retiree) within enterprise segmentation schema, along with sub-category alignment (e.g., currently serving, female head of household / military spouse, affluent) that supports USAA’s mission, strategy and performance standard achievement.
This role supports enterprise segmentation strategy activation at USAA to build segment-specific and targeted sub-category strategies, roadmaps to deliver distinctive solutions and experiences and ensure associated business performance results through effective performance monitoring. This includes orchestrating / influencing the ideation, design and delivery of existing and enhanced products and services for specific member segments in partnership with marketing, product, digital and member facing channels, technology and other stakeholders in a matrixed environment across the company. This role also partners with key leaders to ensure strategic business plans are successfully coordinated, inter-connected and executed, while ensuring alignment to corporate objectives and goals.

What we offer:
Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $152,290 - $282,600.
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
