Job Description

- Processes membership sales through a variety of channels including phone, mail, and digital platforms, using point of sales (Galaxy) and CRM database (Raiser’s Edge).
- Fulfills membership benefits, including but not limited to, digital membership cards, acknowledgements, and coupons and/or discounts and promotions.
- Reconciles membership receipts – on-site, online, and admin processed membership sales. Produces bi-monthly revenue reports for Accounting.
- Creates, updates, and maintains membership files and gifts using Raiser’s Edge.
- Answers membership inquiries and complaints by phone and email.
- Promotes and sells memberships.
- Supports cross-training of Guest Services-Admissions staff in membership sales and supports on-site sales by phone.
- Maintains inventories of promotional and fulfillment supplies.
- Assists with annual events for donors and members, which include occasional evening or weekend shifts.
- Demonstrates superior customer service with customers, both internal (i.e. co-workers) and external.
- Demonstrates knowledge of, and supports, the Conservation Society of California’s mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and codes of behavior.
- Participate in departmental and institutional communications, meetings, and professional development training. Collaborate with other departments in support of membership and the Zoo in general.

- Associate’s degree
- Two years cash handling and sales experience.
- Two years customer service and clerical experience.
- Two years computer experience with an emphasis on data-entry.
- Experience using a CRM and a POS system (Raiser’s Edge and Galaxy preferred).
- Outstanding customer service skills and high degree of confidentiality, including secure handling of members’ personal and billing information.
- Competence with Microsoft Teams and Office applications including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Ability to clearly communicate complex policies verbally and in writing.
- Excellent organization, time management and follow-up skills; high sense of urgency; demonstrated ability to successfully handle multiple projects concurrently; ability to work independently and within a team.
- Flexible to ever changing priorities and urgencies; a can-do attitude is a must.
- The Oakland Zoo requires vaccination*
- Experience with the Raiser’s Edge (fundraising software) or Galaxy POS preferred.
- Accounting or revenue reporting experience a plus.

Pay Rate: $22.50 per hour
Position Summary
This position works as part of a team to provide customer service to Zoo members by phone and email, perform clerical work to maintain the membership program, support on-site membership sales, and reconcile membership revenue with Accounting. Job duties include extensive use of a PC and database. Upholds the mission and values established by the Conservation Society of California (the “Zoo”) and adheres to policies and procedures as set forth by the Zoo.
