      The University of Arizona, Campus Health Service (CHS) seeks a qualified candidate for the position of Mental Health Clinician (Behavioral Health Counselor II). The counselor also participates in outreach, consultation, and crisis response activities as assigned, with a focus on delivering services that are professional, culturally responsive, and supportive of underrepresented student populations. Services are provided under the guidance of senior clinical staff as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team, as well as interfacing with the Campus Health Service (CHS) medical team, the Dean of Students Office, Residence Life, faculty, families, other campus departments and community entities.

      Duties & Responsibilities
      • Work cooperatively as part of a multidisciplinary campus-based health and mental health team to provide direct clinical services for enrolled UA students (individuals, couples, groups), including evaluation, risk assessment, counseling, and crisis management.
      • Participate in campus community outreach, prevention, and psycho-educational activities under the guidance of senior staff. May assist with emergency response efforts as needed.
      • Provide basic consultation to families, faculty, staff, administrators, and CHS medical providers with support from or in coordination with more senior clinical team members.
      • Utilize relevant information technology in clinical documentation and communication.
      • Participate in assigned CHS and University wide committees or working groups that support clinical operations.
      • Provide all services in a manner that is professional, culturally sensitive, and respectful of differences.
      • Work directly with community providers to facilitate direct referrals for students off-campus.
      • Assist in maintaining accurate referral information for clinical staff and help facilitate referrals to community providers in consultation with senior staff.
      • Other duties as assigned by supervisory or leadership staff.

      Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

      • Familiarity/comfort with utilizing the internet, web-based software, social media, and related service delivery/marketing approaches.
      • Enthusiastic and innovative approach to college mental health.
      • Demonstrated sensitivity to a wide range of personal diversity and multicultural issues.
      Minimum Qualifications
      • Master's degree in related field required.
      • Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC), Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (LAMFT), or other counseling-related field, in compliance with the AZ Board of Behavioral Health Examiners is required or the ability to obtain an associate's license within six months of hire.
      • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience.
      Preferred Qualifications
      • Prior clinical experience in a multidisciplinary clinic setting.
      • Prior experience in college mental health, including crisis assessment and management, mental health triage, brief psychotherapy, and referrals, as indicated.
      • Clinical interest/experience in working with clients with high-risk mental health issues.
      • Experience with utilizing an electronic health record.
      • Specific background in working with individuals from Asia, the Middle East, or other non-Western cultures, which might also include language proficiency.
