      Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

      Position Overview

      The clinician provides critical mental health and addiction support to youth and their families, through self, family, school or community referral. In addition to timely first line MHA assessment to determine the severity of concern, appropriate intervention is pursued to prevent deterioration. Further, the clinician will work in collaboration with school staff, the Department of Education and high fidelity wrap around supports to serve as a link between the school system and the CA MHA system. The clinician will also work to strengthen communication with the school system and facilitate information sharing pathways to ensure the continuity of care for the youth, while also building relationships with Indigenous communities and organizations.

      Main Function:
      The Mental Health Clinician is responsible for the delivery of direct client service including the following: conduct first line MHA assessments, provision of brief treatment and support while awaiting specialized services, facilitation of early intervention groups and provision of timely intervention to address needs, link to community-based services and primary care as appropriate, referral and warm hand off to high intensity specialized services, postvention and coordination of step down supports; clinical case management; ongoing provision of relevant support and intervention to offset wait for external services; effective working relationships with clients, families, supervisors, colleagues, school social workers, administrators, huddle staff and primary healthcare providers. These functions are undertaken in accordance with Shared Health’s Mission Statement, organizational policies and procedures, Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics as outlined by the incumbent’s professional licensing body.

      Experience

      • Three to five years' experience working with children, adolescents, adults and families.
      • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

      Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

      • Degree (Masters preferred) in: OT, SW, Psychiatric Nursing, Psychology.

      Certification/Licensure/Registration

      • Active member in good standing of an associated regulatory body as appropriate.

      Qualifications and Skills

      • Experience in working with children and youth.
      • Family engagement and support.
      • Demonstrated knowledge and skills related to mental health and addictions, cooccurring disorders, assessment, including crisis intervention/psychosocial assessment and other treatment modalities.
      • Counselling theories relevant to treating youth with mental health or addiction problems, such as Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Strengths-Based Interventions, Trauma-Informed Practices, coping skills development etc.
      • Demonstrated Cultural diversity and practices of populations served.
      • Ability to work within a complex system of services are required and collaborate with system stakeholders.
      • Resource and support development.
      • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and oral communication and documentation skills.
