      The Mental Health Coordinator collaborates with Head Start/Early Head Start staff to improve the social-emotional climate of Head Start/Early Head Start classrooms. Models age appropriate social-emotional interactions and provides training and technical assistance to teachers, center coordinators, and family support staff. Ensures compliance with the completion of required child social-emotional screenings. Provides follow-up for identified areas of improvement and utilizes classroom profiles to strengthen positive teaching practices. Provides training, and technical assistance to parents in the form of mental health consultation, parenting classes, and other topics identified to support positive caregiving practices. Participates in site level service coordination to meet child and family needs. Duties as assigned.

      Candidates must have:

      • Bachelor's degree in Social Welfare, or related field required. Master's degree in Social Welfare or related field preferred.
      • Appropriate Missouri state level licensure required.
      • Two years prior relevant work experience and expertise in serving families and early childhood social-emotional needs.
      • Knowledge of Head Start federal regulations and policies.
      • Written and verbal communication skills required to interact with health professionals, vendors, and agencies in a professional manner, developing rapport and enhancing business relationships required.
      • Possess ability to work with families in a supportive manner throughout the assessment and referral processes. Effectively utilizes agency technology to accomplish tasks.
      • Working knowledge of community resources required.
      • Maintain successful clearance on the Missouri Family Care Safety Registry and other background screenings.
      • Valid Driver's License for the state of Missouri, reliable vehicle, automobile insurance, and clean driving record required.
      • A physical exam, clear tuberculosis screen, Hepatitis A vaccination and background check are required.
