      We have an exciting opportunity for a Mental Health Nurse to join our Mental Health team at HMP Present, a category B Prison located in Preston.

      HMP Preston is a remand male prison age from 18 + and a capacity of 680.

      The mental health nurse will be based in the mental health inpatient unit based in the healthcare department and some expectations to work om the wing. The mental health team consists of a mental health clinical lead, 2 mental health nurse and support workers.

      Hours:

      • This role is based on 37.5 hours per week
      • Monday - Sunday - 7.30am - 8.30pm
      • 2 / 4 weekends a month
      • 6 weeks in advance

      Salary:

      This position is full time, youll receive an annual salary between £33232 - £40211 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

      Main duties of the job

      As a Mental Health Nurse, your responsibilities will vary. You will

      • Work within a multi-disciplinary team carrying out comprehensive assessments, initiating and reviewing care plans, and developing treatment options
      • Undertake medication rounds, and assess and treat patients who may have undergone traumatic experiences and may be distressed
      • Assess patients health needs using an evidence based framework and be able to risk assess use sound clinical knowledge
      • You will work with individuals providing advice, support and information and manage a case load of patients.
      • Deliver non-judgemental care that makes a real difference
      • You will monitor therapeutic responses to medication and potential side effects liaising with prescribers as required.
      • Inspire excellence by forging strong links with our partners and stakeholders
      • Promote best practice, clinical supervision, evidence based care
      • Share knowledge, skills and expertise to ensure safe care, building strong multi-disciplinary teams and supporting each other to do a great job.

      Qualifications required:

      • Qualified Mental Health Nurse - NMC registration
      • Evidence of Continued Professional Development
      • Experience of working with patients, face to face, who have complex mental health conditions
      • Experience of psychosocial interventions, group work and awareness of substance misuse

      Although not essential ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
