      This position provides comprehensive outpatient behavioral health and integrated care services to children, adolescents, adults, and elderly patients of the Pine Ridge Service Unit (PRSU). Positions are being filled at Pine Ridge Hospital in Pine Ridge, SD and Wanblee Health Center in Wanblee, SD. The position reports to the Behavioral Health supervisor.

      This is a designated position covered by Public Law 101-630, requiring contact or control over Indian children. Due to this requirement, the agency must ensure that persons hired for these positions have not been found guilty of or pleaded nolo contendere or guilty to certain crimes.

      Measles and Rubella immunization required for selectees born after 1957 and seasonal influenza immunization is required for all staff working in Indian Health Service health care facilities.

      COVID-19 vaccination is required for all selectees prior to entrance on duty.

      On-call hours or standby duty and rotating shifts may be required.

      Occasional travel may be required for this position.

      Background Investigation: If you are selected for this vacancy, you must undergo a pre-employment fingerprint check and background investigation.       Qualifications


      To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.

      Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

      BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):

      Degree: A behavioral or social science degree; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

      or

      A combination of education and experience
      that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

      or

      Four (4) years of appropriate experience
      that demonstrates acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

      In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.

      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

      Your resume must demonstrate the information identified below according to the grade level you are applying to:

      GS-09: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Provide appropriate and therapeutic services to patients; provide consultation and technical assistance on prevention and educational information of suicide, behavioral health practices and program development; complete mental health evaluations and/or assist in alcohol or treatment referrals.

      or

      Two (2) years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree.

      or

      A combination of graduate education and experience, in one or more of the behavioral or social science equivalent to a major in the field, that when combined meet the minimum qualifications for the position.

      GS-11: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Coordinate mental health/substance abuse services, assess needs, plan for and implement improvement programs; perform Case Management functions for substance use disorders and mental health issues for individual patient and family system utilizing various resources; provide accurate documentation patient history and progress, services provided, and/or other required information.

      or

      Three (3) years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.

      or

      A combination of graduate education and experience, in one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field, that when fully combined meet the minimum qualifications for the position.

      Selective Placement Factor
      This position requires a current, unrestricted U.S. State license as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or equivalent (Must submit a copy of
      your license with your application).


      You must meet all qualification requirements by the respective cut-off date for referral eligibility.
