Job Description
- Req#: 484220
- Plan recruitment and outreach for mentor applicants including managing applications on Handshake, responding to inquiries from applicants, hosting info sessions, and reviewing applications.
- Develop and maintain information handouts, flyers, and other mentor recruitment materials.
- Coordinate onboarding and training of new mentors
- Serve as main point of contact for mentors, and hold periodic check-ins to provide support and guidance
- Review and approve mentor logs and hours for billing
- Develop, maintain, and approve new content for mentor resource bank.
- Assist program staff in development of summer curriculum and year round programming
- Proactively evaluate individual and overall project performance on a regular and ongoing basis; use collected data and information to recommend needed improvements.
- A bachelor’s degree in psychology, public health, social work, or a related field required
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
- Must display strong analytical, problem-solving and operational support skills
- Comfortable in a fast-paced environment and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities
- Demonstrated strategic and critical thinking
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written), systems thinking, and some understanding of financial and organizational management
- Strong organizational skills and computer proficiency
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and flexible

Summary:
The Child Mind Institute is seeking a Mentorship Coordinator for the Youth Mental Health Academy to support with defining and assigning mentors to the YMHA students, monitoring and tracking the success of the program.
The YMHA is a unique, exciting, multifaceted program with the goal of identifying under-represented minority and disadvantaged high school students and helping them realize their potential to join the workforce with careers in mental health science and practice. Through this 14-month program, high school-aged participants in the YMHA will be provided a range of workshops, immersive mentoring, and networking opportunities. This position provides the opportunity to engage with a broad range of clinicians, policy makers, researchers, and community leaders.
Reporting to the Associate Program Director, this is a non-exempt, full-time position based in New York.
