      POSITION SUMMARY

      The Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery (MBS) Coordinator is a Registered Nurse (RN), who oversees the development, implementation, and evaluation of Marshall Medical Center’s Bariatric Program. Working in conjunction with the MBS Medical Director and Executive Director of Quality, this position organizes services and systems necessary for a multidisciplinary approach throughout the continuum of bariatric care. The MBS Coordinator/Clinical Reviewer is the liaison between the organization and Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP). This position also functions as the MBS Clinical Reviewer by prioritizing, coordinating and performing the activities for the accurate and timely maintenance of the bariatric registry. This position does not perform direct patient care nor does it document in the patient’s medical record.

      POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

      Education/Licensure/Certification:

      • Current California Registered Nursing License required.

      • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

      • *Must meet all DMV requirements listed below.

      Knowledge:

      • Previous bariatric patient experience preferred.

      Skills:

      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

      • Typing of 30+CWPM preferred, word processing, alphabetic and numeric data entry.

      • Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Access, Power Point and Trauma Registrar Software preferred.

      • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and critical thinking skills required.

      • Must be able to analyze and clarify words and phrases, values and standards effectively.

      • Must have the ability to work with minimal supervision; reprioritize workload as needed and meet deadlines; handle multiple tasks at once.

      • Manual dexterity and physical/visual visibility to watch computer monitors for extended periods of time.

      *Note: Requires employees to drive at least once per pay period. Candidates must possess and supply proof of: a current CA Driver’s License, a clean DMV printout and Auto Insurance coverage with a minimum of $50,000 per person/$100,000 per occurrence (or a combined single limit of $100,000) and property damage coverage in an amount not less than $50,000 per occurrence.
