      Cellzome, a fully embedded part of GSK’s Research and Development (R&D), is located on the campus of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) in Heidelberg, a diverse and stimulating environment that provides a unique mixture of backgrounds and expertise. Cellzome provides an interdisciplinary working environment focusing on multiple Omics technologies.

      Metabolomics Scientist (m/f/d)

      We are looking for a motivated scientist with experience in mass spectrometry-based metabolomics to join our interdisciplinary team. In this hands-on role, you will be pivotal in further refining and developing metabolomics workflows to deliver high-quality large-scale datasets that will significantly impact our drug discovery projects.

      The ideal candidate is a talented analytical scientist who thrives in a laboratory environment and is passionate about setting up and evaluating metabolomics methods. Your hands-on experience and expertise in laboratory techniques will be crucial in this role.

      This position requires a team player who can effectively work within a multidisciplinary team of proteomics and metabolomics specialists. Your ability to collaborate and contribute to our team's success is key.

      You will join the Proteomics and Metabolomics Mass Spectrometry Team at Cellzome, located in Heidelberg, Germany. As a part of GSK, Cellzome is at the forefront of OMICS technologies, innovating and implementing them to identify new drug targets and modalities for disease treatment.

      Your responsibilities:

      • Performing metabolomics analyses, which encompasses samples preparation, conducting mass spectrometry analysis, and ensuring quality control.
      • Improving existing methods and introducing new techniques for high-throughput and targeted metabolomics with a focus on enhancing efficiency and accuracy
      • Setting up robust quality control measures to ensure reliable operation of instrumentation and workflows
      • Collaborate effectively within the proteomics and metabolomics teams, contribute your expertise to contextualize and integrate insights across disciplines

      Required Skills:

      • A PhD or master’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, or a related field.
      • Hands-on wet lab experience in metabolomics sample processing and analysis
      • Fluent in English; knowledge of German is a plus
      • An organized and efficient work approach
      • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary environment
      • A desire to learn and grow
