We are looking for a Metal Buyers to join the Kaiser Aluminum team on the West Coast (California, Washington, Nevada, Arizona), Southern US (Oklahoma/Texas) and east of the Mississippi.

      The Metal Buyers provides support to the Metal Buying Manager and the Raw Materials Buying Team for input materials supply procurement and management for Kaiser facilities. The Metal Buyers will be the interface between multiple Kaiser locations and the metals markets. The Metal Buyers, in conjunction with the Kaiser consuming locations, will continually search for new opportunities and vendors to provide input materials to ensure the necessary supply of raw materials at a fair market price.

      What you will work on:

      • Monitor inventory usage in conjunction with Kaiser consuming locations and make recommendations to Kaiser Location Management regarding adjusting purchases as needed.
      • Be the commercial interface between Kaiser Locations and scrap and alloy suppliers.
      • Will be provided a Designation of Authority (DofA) with a level commensurate with the role to support scrap aluminum and alloying material purchasing for the Newark, OH, London, ON, Spokane, WA (Trentwood), Los Angeles, CA, Warrick, IN and the Kalamazoo, MI facilities.
      • Be the Single Point of Accountable (SPA) Trader for one or more Kaiser Locations (plant specific subject matter expert for all things raw material).
      • Provide market feedback to the director of Raw Materials and the Raw Materials Buying Team regarding pricing levels for various scrap grades as support for setting purchase prices.
      • Assist the Metal Buying Manager SAE and HAE and onsite plant personnel with scrap and dross processing activities at multiple Kaiser Locations.
      • Standardize processes and procedure for raw materials procurement activities across multiple Kaiser Locations.
      • Actively search for and promote new sources and types of the various inputs as a means to leverage safety, availability, quality, and price.
      • Travel to industry networking events and to Kaiser Operations up to twenty-five percent (25%).

      Qualifications

      What you will bring to the position:

      • Undergraduate degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
      • A minimum of 3 years aluminum scrap procurement experience with 3-5 years previous experience preferred.
      • Production planning or operations management experience is a plus.
      • Strong PC skills, including Windows, Word, and Excel.
      • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and organizational skills.
      • Proven ability to work in teams.
      • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
      • Experience with Maximo is a plus.
      • Be someone with an exceptional capacity to understand the complexity of aluminum products and material and chemistry specifications of metal products.
      • Be energetic, disciplined, and focused on a team building operational organization.
      • Have well developed interpersonal and business partnering skills, with the ability to quickly adapt to, be accepted by, and interrelate with the organization at all levels.
      • Be willing to work flexible hours.
