Position Summary:
The Metrology Technician provides calibration support to the Metrology department to ensure needed calibrations are completed within the target due dates. The position supports Metrology, Production, Quality Engineering and Quality Control departments to ensure product specifications are achieved. Individuals in this role also execute validation protocols per engineering requirements to aid in process development.
Job Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following: · Ensuring that instrumentation and equipment that support the manufacturing and testing of products are calibrated at specified intervals. This includes executing calibration protocols, performing calibrations, adjusting, and troubleshooting/repairing manufacturing QA/QC equipment. · Preparing calibration documentation and updating the calibration database. · Executes calibration validation protocols per engineering requirements. Including GRR data collection, data analysis and the execution of validation plans. Support Continuous improvement initiatives such as the development and validation of automated inspection programs utilizing optical measurement equipment / coordinate measurement machines · Other duties as assigned by the Metrology Line Chief The responsibilities listed herein are not intended to be a comprehensive list of the duties and responsibilities of the position. Physical Attributes:
· May sit for extended periods of time.
· Utilize dexterity abilities to perform typing, operate a computer and other office equipment, to perform filing, and related job responsibilities and attention to detail competence.
· Spend significant time reading both on paper and on a computer.
· May be exposed to hazards associated with manufacturing equipment and tools.
· Utilize manual dexterity to manipulate small objects
· Traverse long distances through the building.
· Push/pull/carry up to 50 lbs.
· Bend, crouch and reach continuously while performing required job tasks.
Work Environment:
· General office and manufacturing environment.
· Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
Minimum Qualifications:
· 5 + years’ experience visual / mechanical inspection using calibrated equipment.
· 1+ years’ experience collecting and logging data using a computer-based system
Preferred Qualifications:
· Previous experience working in the metrology/calibration field is desired
· Experience in quality control in an ISO-certified medical device or defense manufacturing environment is strongly desired.
· Understanding of the machining process and familiarity with machining equipment are strongly desired.
· Knowledge of the use of a wide variety of measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and optical measuring equipment is strongly desired.
· Experience using and interpreting engineering drawings for machined parts is strongly desired.
· Excellent visual acuity and: ability to use a microscope to inspect small parts for long periods of time.
· Familiar with Microsoft Office productivity software (Excel, Word etc.).
