      Job Description

      Under the general administrative direction, the Manager, Patient Placement and Supplemental Staff oversees the bed management process and is responsible for ensuring the success of the hospital’s strategic objectives and mission as they relate to patient access, patient flow, growth of market share, customer satisfaction and optimal utilization of health system partners. Formulates and recommends changes in patient flow to hospital executives. This position has operational oversight for scheduling the Nursing Supervisors and acts as a resource for questions/problem solving. Identifies areas of improvement and works with staff to facilitate the necessary changes. Responsible for completing timely staff performance evaluations. Performs the Nursing Supervisor responsibilities as necessary.

      Under general administrative direction, the Manager, Patient Placement and Supplemental Staff is accountable for the delivery of patient care services which support the strategic plan of the organization and achieves clinical, financial and service quality objectives, in one or more clinical units or care delivery sites. This role is accountable for the quality of clinical services delivered for the competency and performance of the supplemental staff and for designing and maintaining systems to support multidisciplinary team functioning and continuity of services with a product line. The Manager, Patient Placement and Supplemental Staff also serves as a key participant in organizational project teams and work groups.

      Qualifications

      • Master’s degree in a clinical discipline is required. RN licensure preferred.
      • If licensed as an RN, current licensure as a RN in the State of Maryland is required.
      • Minimum of five (5) years of experience including clinical practice experience and three years of demonstrated management experience in hospital operations or a clinical department is required.
      • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple and continually changing priorities to make rapid decisions.
      • Demonstrated ability to implement and monitor change.
      • Demonstrated highly effective verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated effectiveness as a group leader and participant. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with multiple members of the health care and administrative leadership team.
      • Demonstrated ability to think critically, develop conceptual designs for clinical services and plans and organizes successful projects.
