      Job Description

      BAE Systems Combat Mission Systems (CMS) is hiring a Senior Accounting Manager responsible for support to the Accounting function of a business with revenue exceeding $3B. This position will report to the CMS Accounting Director and focus on General Ledger activity. As a key member of the Accounting Leadership team, this individual will provide oversight and guidance to a team of approximately 17 personnel. Specific functions under purview of this manager include general accounting, financial statements, capital and fixed asset management, IFRS 16 accounting, and interfacing with Shared Services and Audit functions. The successful candidate is a strong leader who will collaborate cross-functionally to provide optimal business support, prioritize continuous improvement initiatives and talent development.

      This position is remote but would benefit from periodic days spent onsite to work with others on the team.

      Responsibilities:

      • Lead the General Accounting functions (ledger, fixed assets, financial reporting, intercompany, and month-end close rhythms)
      • Ensure high level of execution across the Accounting team
      • Ensure that business commitments are met, having the authority to make cogent and timely decisions related to needs of the business including personnel
      • Maintain strong financial controls and ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards
      • Ensure that IFRS 15 is applied consistently and identify complex situations that may require further documentation and resolution
      • Achieve financial objectives relating to the General Accounting function as established in the annual business plan
      • Establish productive relationships with other finance and functional groups within CMS to enable collaboration
      • Support the function through business system upgrades and process optimization
      • Provide financial guidance and advice to business management regarding capital investments, contract negotiations, revenue recognition, and other financial analyses
      • Available with flexible hours at times over holidays to support time-sensitive accounting close activity

      Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 10 years work experience or equivalent experience

      Required Skills and Education

      • Bachelor's Degree and 10 years work experience or equivalent work experience
      • Experience in Accounting/Finance Management with an established track record of optimizing a general accounting team and cost in support of the business’ needs through review of required output, efficiency of operations, and assignment of appropriate and capable personnel
      • Experience in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and/or US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) in a Government Contracting environment
      • Experience in People Management with an established track record of leading and motivating teams; strong coaching and mentoring skills; and ability to achieve results through others
      • A proven ability to communicate financial information clearly and concisely across a broad audience
      • Proven ability to drive process improvement and efficiency within a general accounting function
      • Ability to maintain strong relationships and coordinate with other finance and functional groups (including shared service providers) to ensure end-to-end process efficiency is continuously improved and cross-functional issues are addressed quickly and effectively
      • Ability to develop solution options for complex and unusual accounting problems which require a high level of technical competency, creativity, and ability to document the analysis and recommendation such that an independent and knowledgeable 3rd party could reach the same conclusions
      • Demonstrated ability to manage various audits (financial, internal, Government)
      • Demonstrated ability in promoting adherence to the Company’s legal, ethical, and company requirements, including Company Financial Policies and Procedures
      • Extensive financial business acumen and relevant skillset
      • Strong communications skills

      Preferred Skills and Education

      • CPA and/or MBA
      • Experience with Oracle EBS toolset
      • Experience with HFM
      • Expertise with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
