Job Description

- Provides oversight and supervision of medication sourcing, purchasing, receiving, distribution and inventory management staff and processes within the pharmacy department. This includes recruitment, orientation/training, performance management, staff development, counseling, disciplining and scheduling of staff.
- Develops and executes sourcing strategies by leading cross-functional teams of pharmacy specialists and professionals, uses analytical tools and performance metrics to complete value analyses, assembles and presents concise business cases, and oversees/manages the implementation of team decisions.
- Works with organizational pharmacy leaders, pharmaceutical vendors, manufacturers and wholesalers to source needed pharmacy products and negotiate value-added contract terms and conditions, monitors compliance with system contracts, reports unfavorable variances, and works with end users to resolve contract-related issues.
- Monitors all pharmacy purchasing and distribution processes to ensure compliance with pre-determined business goals and objectives.
- Develops and maintains effective relationships with colleagues in areas of supply chain, leadership, and care delivery, and serves as the point of contact for pharmaceutical suppliers.
- Maintains a thorough knowledge of all organizational product and service needs and industry developments related to assigned spend categories.
- Establishes and manages pharmaceutical supply chain projects, involving key stakeholders and suppliers appropriately through the process of discovery and analysis.
- Identifies and develops cost reduction ideas and initiatives, working with key stakeholders for the most effective strategy for implementation.
- Evaluates internal and external benchmarking (including cost, quality, safety, user/patient satisfaction and performance) data to identify value beyond acquisition costs.
- Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent years of experience and education
- Five years’ experience, with two years’ in leadership
- Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
- Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
- Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
- Frequent keyboard use/data entry.
- Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping.
- Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
- Rare climbing.
