- Responsible for the “Cost Calculation Group” of the Value Engineering Department reporting directly to the VP of Value Engineering. The Cost Calculation Group consists of specialist from the Interior, Exterior, Chassis, power train and Electric.
- Lead the team in cost calculation process in collaboration with purchasing and the involved departments.
- Ensure that VE NAR is aligned with the actual tools and processes with the German Headquarter
- Goal to calculate >80% value of sourcing processes and deliver KGFs of highest quality
- Comprehensive understanding of materials and manufacturing processes of automotive parts within the NAR market
- Fulfill the goal of cost calculations >80% of the value of forward sourcing in high quality
- Check and approve the cost calculations to the global TCPCM-tool
- Lead and coordinate the activities of the calculation team including ongoing improvement, training and development of staff, process and tools
- Implement and align processes with the German HQ
- Improve communication and exchange with German HQ
- Understand Strategy 2025 and integrate its objectives through the lens of “Value Engineering” from concept to implementation to series production phases.
- Lead product cost reduction workshops with suppliers, buyers and engineering
- Complete calculations of the cost impact associated with identified technical changes.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, formal training, reviewing professional publications, establishing and expanding professional networks, and participating in professional societies.
- Responsible for the establishment and management of annual Overhead (SGK) budget for the Department (~$2,000,000)
- Coordinate ‘Regionalization’ of Vehicle Group Value Engineering in North America
- Assign individual and team targets, in line with Department Objectives
- Assess work results and provide feedback to Direct Report
- Serve as Deputy to the SVP / VP Value Engineering NAR and represent the department in their absence.
- 10+ years automotive OEM or Tier 1 supplier experience
- Bachelor degree in Business or Engineering
- Master’s degree in Business or Engineering
- Advanced Microsoft Office user
- Automotive parts and systems cost calculation fundamentals
- Analytical and conceptual thinking using reasoning and logic, creativity and strategic orientation
- Communication skills – interpersonal, oral, written and presentational
- Integration – bringing together people, processes or systems
- Influencing and negotiation skills
- Demonstrated Leadership capability
- Resource and organization development experience
- Leader of cost reduction activity with automotive OEM
- Resource management and organizational development experience.
- Vehicle Development background
- In depth knowledge of the VW PEP
- Knowledgeable of evolving technologies and business models.
- Technical and general automotive engineering, product development and steering knowledge
- Thorough understanding of manufacturing practices and methods in the automotive industry.
- Strong understanding of cost calculation tools and processes in the automotive industry
- German, Spanish or Chinese language skills
- Engineering & procurement IT systems (KVS, EBON, TEVON….)
- Travel up to 25% of the time. Ability to work irregular hours and occasional weekends
