- Develop and maintain laboratory records, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and job aides in alignment with the lab’s document control system.
- Ensure documentation of daily work with good laboratory practice compliance for review by the COR and the head of the lab.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and monitor consumable supplies and reagents.
- Ensure all laboratory equipment is functional and calibrated as per requirements.
- Comply with CLIA regulations and maintain assigned laboratory areas, equipment, and protocols in compliance with local and federal quality, safety, and security standards.
- Provide proof of vaccinations as required for entry into the laboratory.
- Perform laboratory activities in support of diagnostic testing assays, including maintenance of cell cultures, validation of control serum samples, preparation of viral stocks, and specialty reagents and buffers.
- Conduct data and records management and other routine laboratory work.
- Develop and test novel strategies to measure neutralizing antibodies to Zika virus and other viruses.
- Modify existing protocols and utilize existing equipment to perform new assays in a high throughput format.
- Implement quality control plans to ensure accuracy and reliability of laboratory results.
- Design and test new or modified protocols to improve laboratory procedures.
- Analyze laboratory data and prepare summary reports.
- Report findings into the laboratory information management systems.
- Ability to work in a laboratory setting, including standing for extended periods.
- Capability to handle biological specimens and laboratory equipment.
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
- Six (6) years of relevant laboratory experience, preferably in a clinical or diagnostic setting.
- Proficiency in cell culture maintenance and assay development.
- Knowledge of laboratory equipment and maintenance protocols.
- Understanding of CLIA regulations and quality control practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent documentation and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to comply with local and federal safety requirements, including vaccination requirements for laboratory access.
- Must pass a background check to obtain a common access card (CAC).
- Candidate must provide proof of vaccinations required for lab entry.
The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) is looking for a Microbiologist I to support our government customer located in San Juan, Puerto Rico .
The Microbiologist will provide technical and logistic support in a laboratory setting, performing testing on clinical and non-clinical specimens and reporting results into the laboratory information management systems.

Masters in Biology, Microbiology, or related discipline.
