      Job Description

      Your Responsibilities
      • Lead the Erith Microbiology Lab; providing support to the Laboratory Manager.
      • Ensure all routine and non-routine analysis is carried out in accordance to ADM EU Oilseeds methods and requirements.
      • Coordinate and carry out Salmonella testing, analysis of all incoming samples in all sections of the laboratory as required including taste testing of finished product.
      • Reporting of results to management and ensuring that ADM Erith’s products and processes are in line with customer and legal requirements.
      • Ensure the continuous running of the laboratory to insure process interruptions are avoided.
      • Ensuring correct record keeping, maintaining a high level of housekeeping and GLP in line with the expectations and requirements of ADM EU Oilseeds.
      • Routine performance checks, maintenance of equipment to ensure it is fit for purpose, investigate and resolve as appropriate.
      • Develop and implement training.
      • Ensure work is conducted safely at all times.
      • Carryout lab audits making corrective actions as appropriate.
      • Stock control/Purchase requisites/Stock management of laboratory consumables.
      • Method development and validation.
      • Development of written methods/ review of existing methods and related lab documentation.
      • Provide support to the Laboratory Manager, Lab Coordinators and cover daily tasks in their absence.

      Your Profile
      • Microbiology degree.
      • 3 years Microbiology experience, in an accredited lab.
      • Method development and validation experience.
      • Experience of training, maintaining equipment and records within a Microbiology Lab.
      • 3M Molecular Detection/Salmonella testing experience would be desirable.
      • Basic computer skills ( MS Office, Excel)
      • Ability to carry out physical activities
      • Applies safe working practice
      • Proactive problem solver
      • Good written and verbal communication
      • Experience in recognising and investigate failures with view to resolving these

      The Role
      • The job is (8 hour) day work role based in the laboratory covering the period 08:00 to 16:00 hrs Monday to Friday.
      • Provision for covering for shifts is required. (Predominately day shifts, although transfer to the full 24/7 12 hour shift system may be required at times, e.g. in the event of long term sickness).
      • The jobholder will be required to work with a range of chemicals
      • There will be a degree of manual handling
      • The Job holder may be required to travel on occasion, including overseas
