      Job Title: Microbiology Technician


      Job Description

      We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Microbiology Technician who will play a crucial role in monitoring classified areas and utilities using various sampling methods for the detection of bacteria, fungi, and particulates. This position requires a sound understanding of microbiological techniques to identify microorganisms, perform validation activities, and document results in compliance with GMP standards. The ideal candidate will adhere to safety, health, and environmental policies to ensure a safe laboratory environment.

      Responsibilities

      • Conduct environmental monitoring using active/passive air sampling and surface sampling methods.
      • Utilize CliMet air sampling methods to detect total particulates and trend data to identify anomalies.
      • Test city water, pre-treat water, clean steam, and Water for Injection for microbial count and endotoxins.
      • Perform testing on nitrogen and process air for microbial count and particulates.
      • Identify microorganisms using classical microbiological methods.
      • Carry out validation activities such as biological indicator recovery and endotoxin testing.
      • Analyze and enter data into the Microbiology Information Management Systems (MIMS).
      • Document test results and conclusions in GMP-compliant manner.
      • Ensure completeness of test forms before submission for approval.
      • Comply with quality systems and adhere to safety, health, and environmental procedures.

      Essential Skills

      • Microbiology expertise.
      • Laboratory experience in industrial or academic settings.
      • Proficiency in environmental monitoring or food lab experience (USDA, FDA).
      • Experience with microbiological procedures and personal protective equipment (PPE).
      • Familiarity with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and documentation.
      • Minimum 1 year of experience in clinical, academic, or industrial/pharmaceutical microbiology laboratories.
      • Experience in microbiological assays and testing.

      Additional Skills & Qualifications

      • Degree in microbiology, biological sciences, or related field.
      • Desired experience in environmental monitoring and trending.
      • Desired experience in the testing of utilities.
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
      • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
      • Proficiency in Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
      • Computer skills including experience with spreadsheets and databases.
      • Ability to use a respirator and work with microorganisms and hot liquids.

      Work Environment

      The work environment is a pharmaceutical lab with a cleanroom, promoting a team-oriented atmosphere. The position involves working the 3:00 PM to 12:00 AM shift for 40 hours a week. Employees will undergo streamlined training for 60-90 days on various testing methods.

      Pay and Benefits

      The pay range for this position is $29.00 - $29.00/hr.
