      TITLE: Middle School Football Head Coach

      QUALIFICATIONS:

      1. Demonstrates a knowledge and understanding of the sport involved.
      2. Maintains professional competence in engaging and supporting students.
      3. Communicates effectively with students, school staff and the community.
      4. Preference is given to individuals currently under teaching contract with the school division.

      REPORTS TO: Athletic Director/Building Administrator(s)

      JOB GOAL:

      To help each participating student achieve a high level of skill, an appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship, and an increased level of self-esteem.

      PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

      1. Coaches individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport involved.
      2. Plans and schedules a regular program of practice in season.
      3. Works closely with the athletic director in scheduling intramural and interscholastic contests. Recommends purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms, as appropriate.
      4. Maintains necessary attendance forms, insurance records, and similar paperwork.
      5. Oversees the safety conditions of the facility or area in which assigned sport is conducted at all times that students are present.
      6. Establishes performance criteria for eligibility in interscholastic competition in the coach’s sport.
      7. Enforces discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times, and establishes and oversees penalties for breach of such standards by individual students.

      TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

      Salary and work year to be established by the Board.
