      TITLE: Summer Fun Camp – Teaching Assistant

      REPORTS TO AND IS EVALUATED BY: Director of Teaching, Learning, and Assessment

      TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Part-time bargaining unit position – Temporary Summer Position; FLSA Non-Exempt.

      ANTICIPATED START DATE: June 30, 2025

      HOURS: 9:00 - 11:30 a.m.

      LOCATION: Central Middle School

      COMPENSATION: In accordance with PESPA Collective Bargaining Agreement.

      PRINCIPAL FUNCTION: Create a fun, engaging, and educational environment that encourages students from grades 6-8 to explore new interests, develop skills, and build social connections.

      ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

      1. Design and conduct a variety of creative, physical, and educational activities that cater to the interests and age levels of the students.
      2. Promote teamwork, communication, and respect among students through group activities and collaborative projects.
      3. Maintain a safe environment by supervising students, ensuring they follow camp rules, and addressing any safety concerns promptly.
      4. Motivate students to try new things in various areas of interest.
      5. Offer individual or group support when needed, whether academically, socially, or emotionally, ensuring that each student feels valued and included.
      6. Set clear expectations for behavior and encourage positive conduct through praise, redirection, and consistent rules.
      7. Make learning enjoyable and memorable through games, themed days, and creative events that keep the students excited and engaged.
      8. Keep open communication with parents about their child’s progress and any issues that arise. Work collaboratively with fellow staff to ensure smooth operations.

      EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: Associate’s degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred

      ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

      • PA State Police Clearance (Act 34) – Dated within one year
      • Child Abuse Clearance (Act 151) ) – Dated within one year
      • FBI Fingerprint Clearance (Act 114) ) – Dated within one year
      • School Personnel Health Form (Physical and TB test)
      • PDE 6004 Form (Act 24)
      • Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Release Form(s) (Act 168)

      PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: (Choose one of the following.)

      SEDENTARY: involves sitting most of the time. The incumbent should be able to exert up to 10 lbs of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects.

      LIGHT WORK: The incumbent should be able to exert up to 20 lbs of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 lbs of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

      MEDIUM WORK: The incumbent should be able to exert up to 50 lbs of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs of force constantly to move objects.

      HEAVY WORK: The incumbent should be able to exert up to 75 lbs of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs of force constantly to move objects.

      VERY HEAVY WORK: The incumbent should be able to exert in excess of 100 lbs of force occasionally, and in excess of 50 lbs of force frequently, and in excess of 20 lbs of force constantly to move objects.

      The Pennridge School District has approximately 7,200 students and a faculty of 500 in seven elementary schools, three middle schools and one high school.
