      The MVHS Group at Leidos currently has an opening for a Financial Counselor in support of military families to work remotely. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping the Military OneSource mission. The Military OneSource Program provides 24/7 support services for military members and their families, similar to a commercial employee assistance program (EAP). This program provides a broad array of information, resources, education, referrals, and counseling to about 4.7 million participants which includes military Service members, their families, and eligible civilians at locations worldwide. The Military OneSource program serves as a “one source” for resource and information encompassing a comprehensive support system.

      The Financial Counselor specializes in providing Personal Financial Management (PFM) knowledge, tools and factual, unbiased information that empowers eligible participants to make independent and informed financial decisions and providing personalized, tailored financial assistance and referral services to program participants. They provide personal and family financial counseling, goal setting, education, awareness information services, appropriate referrals, and assistance, directly impacting military members and their families lives.

      Primary Responsibilities:

      • Provides financial counseling by counseling by appointment, telephonically, face-to-face, or via real-time audio/video secure connection.

      • Assists eligible participants with Personal Financial Management (PFM) by providing factual, unbiased information that empowers them to make independent and informed financial decisions and providing financial education.

      • Provides eligible participants support and assistance with financial stability, money management, anticipating financial impacts due to challenges incident to military service.

      • Assists, where necessary, with establishing a basic level of financial literacy to develop good financial behaviors and habits.

      • Navigates resources, resolves complex concerns, assesses, and acts in crisis situations.

      • Documents cases according to program guidelines.

      • Maintains internal and contractual training requirements.

      • Performs other duties and special projects, based on business need.

      Basic Qualifications:

      • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field.

      • National certification as an Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP) AND Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).

      • Strong customer service skills, knowledge of call center operations, and knowledge and understanding of military life as well as ability to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality, sensitivity, compassion, and respect for Service members and their families.

      • Ability to identify extreme financial hardship, threat of deprivation, or other similar circumstances, deescalate with professionalism and makes referrals as appropriate.

      • Knowledge of call center operations.

      • Proven proficiency in Microsoft based tools including Word, Outlook, Excel; web-based research; electronic documentation systems

      • U.S. citizen and ability to speak fluent English.

      • Military spouse or former Service member is required for some consultation programs.

      • Ability to pass a criminal history and fingerprint background checks, and credential review/verification.

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • Fluency in Spanish

      • Telecounseling/teleconsulting experience

      • Veteran/military retiree, wounded warrior, and/or military spouse

      • Experience working with and/or for military communities

      • Employee assistance program (EAP) experience

      Pay Range:

      Pay Range $66,300.00 - $119,850.00

      The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
