      Overview

      The Mobile Dental Unit Driver will play a crucial role in delivering dental services to underserved communities by safely transporting the mobile dental unit to various locations. This position requires a strong commitmentto community health, excellent driving skills, and collaboration with dental professionals and support staff.


      Qualifications

      EDUCATION REQUIREMENT
      • High school diploma or GED.
      • Experience in driving commercial vehicles or medical transport preferred.

      COMPETENCIES
      • Customer service.
      • Organizational and time management skills.


      PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
      While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

      CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
      • Valid driver’s license that meets the requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting.
      • CDL preferred.


      OTHER REQUIREMENTS
      • The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and
      Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or
      listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's
      List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).
      • Proven experience in customer service or community engagement preferred but not required.
      • Basic knowledge of dental terminology and procedures preferred but not required.
      • Ability to lift heavy equipment and stand for extended periods.
      • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

      ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

      • Safely operates, drives, and maintains the mobile dental unit to and from designated locations.
      • Ensures the mobile dental unit is stocked, organized, and functioning properly before each appointment.
      • Conducts daily inspections of the vehicle and report any maintenance needs promptly.
      • Works closely with the dental team to coordinate schedules and ensure timely arrival at locations.
      • Interacts with external partners regarding placement of dental clinic at each site.
      • Assists dental staff in setting up and dismantling equipment in the mobile unit.
      • Communicates effectively with patients and staff regarding schedules and services provided.
      • Adheres to all traffic laws and safety regulations while driving the mobile unit.
      • Maintains accurate records of mileage, services performed, and any incidents during transport.
      • Provides excellent customer service and promote a positive image of the mobile dental program.
      • Participates in community outreach activities as needed to raise awareness about dental health services.

      LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY
      • Performs work under direct supervision.
      • Handles basic issues and problems, and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
      • Possesses beginning to working knowledge of subject matter.
