      Model Systems Manager
      TIAA's Default Solutions Team defines, develops and delivers market-leading default/QDIA investment options for defined contribution plans, including TIAA RetirePlus®. RetirePlus is a cornerstone of TIAA's strategy to lead in lifetime income, delight our clients and strengthen how we operate. It lets plan sponsors and consultants offer custom model solutions that are tailored to the plan's unique demographics and can include the opportunity for lifetime income. The Default Solutions Team works closely with associates across TIAA to manage the integrated and sophisticated technology and operations platform that forms the backbone of RetirePlus. The Model Systems Manager will oversee the deployment, development, and ongoing strategy for the Model Investment Management system that is the core of not only TIAA RetirePlus, but also a growing suite of managed retirement solutions. Serving as the business leader of a matrixed team spanning Product, Client Services, and Technology, the Model Systems Manager will be the primary business owner for this centralized portfolio management platform and will coordinate platform migration strategies, create requirements for new products and features, anticipate and address system interdependencies, and ensure accurate and efficient system operation.

      Key Responsibilities and Duties
      • Acts as a day-to-day technical/functional expert in assigned area and makes decisions on both strategic and tactical issues that impact the business
      • Manages, motivates and develops project and matrixed team members to ensure projects are completed with high quality and in a timely manner
      • Provides advanced technical and analytical guidance to project team members, many of whom reside within other parts of the organization
      • Influences the development of strategic improvements through analysis of progress and performance against set targets
      • Ensures technical project management policies, practices, and procedures are understood and followed by the team
      • Identifies and resolves highly unique/complex, sensitive, and/or high priority issues across function(s), involving a diverse range of internal, and often external, sources of information
      • Approves the development and implementation of new product enhancements, processes, and operational plans
      • Collaborates with IT partners to devise capacity plan and ensure appropriate infrastructure for the end-to-end system delivery
      • Develops strategy and roadmap for delivering innovation and automation while analyzing detailed business requirements and specifications for the application
      • Leads complex architecture requirements analysis to convert end user needs into technical solutions
      • Researches and analyzes market conditions and identifies key trends and opportunities for product innovation/enhancements
      • Monitors design effectiveness, costs, reliability, safety and security
      • Prepares product technical documentation and supports sales and marketing with the necessary technical expertise

      Base Pay Range: $189,500/yr. - $228,100/yr.

      Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
