- Operate Siemens 3T Skyra and Prisma scanners to support research activities on and off campus.
- Interact with human participants and investigators to develop and execute MRI protocols and experiments.
- Work with certain medium sized animals in animal based research project (pig, non-human primate).
- Ensure quality and reliability of data produced.
- Assist and facilitate routine maintenance of the scanner.
- Assist and facilitate daily routines to support MRI research activities such as ordering and stocking supplies, working with the calendar reservation system, billing.
- Additional duties may be assigned.
- Excellent oral/written communication and skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to make important decisions without immediate help.
- Ability to work closely with investigators using the system.
- Ability to interact comfortably with human participants that sign up as research subjects.
- Willingness to scan medium sized animals such as pigs and non-human primates.
- Familiarity with proper and ethical imaging practices and protocols.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required and a minimum of 5 years of relevant Siemens MRI scanner work experience is required.
- 10+ years MRI Technologist experience or equivalent.
- Experience leading clinical research projects.
- Advanced training on MRI scanners.
MRI Technologist Posting Number req16322 Department RII Core Facilities Department Website Link https://research.arizona.edu/facilities/search Location Main Campus Address Tucson, AZ USA Position Highlights Research, Innovation & Impact invites applications for a staff scientist position (MRI Technologist) at the Researcher/Scientist III level to operate and manage two state-of-the-art 3T Siemens MRI system dedicated to research activities. The MRI scanners are housed in the Translational Bioimaging Resource (TBIR), a 20,000 sq-ft facility that includes MRI, ultrasound, CT, PET, SPECT, TMS, bioluminescence, multi-photon microscopy, and optical coherence microscopy. The TBIR serves as a university-wide resource for pre-clinical biomedical imaging and is housed in the Biosciences Research Laboratory.
The successful applicant will join a team of innovative and collegial scientists and technicians who work across the various imaging modalities to assist and collaborate with investigators to develop and execute imaging research studies. The Scientist will be responsible for assisting with highly specialized research and patient imaging at an advanced level. The position requires great latitude for creativity in both theoretical and experimental applications and oversees small and large research projects.
The applicant must be willing to work flexible hours, including weekdays, weekends, mornings, evenings, and occasionally overnight.
