Job Description
- Req#: 12704
- Addresses incoming and outbound scheduling requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Obtains or offers any necessary information as requested by management, including but not limited to NPI, request for transportation, or other data.
- Uses all technology systems as instructed by Management including but not limited to Electronic Medical Record and Insurance Verification web sites.
- Provides administrative and clerical support to one or more designated prescribers and the clinical staff.
- Obtains and updates all demographic information at each and scans patient documents into EMR.
- Checks the voicemail system as directed, clinic emails, log callbacks and clear messages within one business day. Responds to all patient calls and referrals within 24 hours and document completion.
- Provides high level of customer service when engaging with patients, caregivers, and business partners.
- Attempts to resolve and de-escalate any patient/customer service issues.
- Responsible for patient insurance verification, benefits, eligibility when requested by manager to cover for Insurance Verifier. Utilizes the insurance verification systems and save in EMR.
- Maintains supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing order for supplies.
- Additional duties may include: o Ensures insurance benefits are current and active for patients in OP and IOP o Reviews patient medical records to gather the necessary information to support prior authorization requests for IOP.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED required, bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 2+ years’ work experience with customer service area
- MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
- Knowledgeable of insurance plans and insurance eligibility systems (Ecare/Passport, Loxogon)
- Medical/Psychiatric terminology
- Meditech/NexGen/EPIC (preferred B/AR, ADM, PCI and scheduling modules)

Position Purpose:
The Central Scheduler and Support Specialist is responsible carrying out various tasks that encompass administrative support, patient scheduling, and insurance verification, when needed. This role gathers updated demographic information and insurance information at the time of the scheduled appointment. Work consists of a variety of routine and non-routine duties of a clerical nature requiring use of independent judgment and decision-making skills within well-established parameters. This position may also be responsible for obtaining prior authorizations and concurrent review authorizations for the Intensive Outpatient Program.
Key Job Activities:
o Completes concurrent reviews for IOP to obtain coverage for the recommended visits. o Coordinates scheduling IOP Patients weekly with a provider and tracking IOP attending.

Registry Caregivers are not eligible for Sinai’s benefit programs with the exception for Sick-C, PPO Medical Plan, Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and non-match eligible contribution to the Sinai Health System Consolidated 403(b) retirement savings plan.
