    • Ability to teach in the liberal arts method of instruction or willing to learn how
    • Excellent communication skills with administration, parents, students, and colleagues
    • Create weekly lesson plans (to be submitted to the principal) for classes K-4
    • Introduce students to different genres of music, performers, and styles
    • Introduce basic vocal instruction
    • Teach pitch, rhythm, and music notation
    • Evaluate student performance and provide a summative grade for each report card
    • Maintain classroom management to provide the best environment for learning
    • Collaboratively organize an Advent and Spring Concert once a year
    • Organize performances by selected grade levels to perform at the Saints and Scholars Gala each year
    • Be responsible for attending school wide professional development within the year provided by the administration
    • Be responsible for attending school staff meetings every other Friday morning prior to school
    • Establish clear expectations, procedures, and routines for student behavior in the classroom and reinforces school expectations
    • Maintain a positive classroom environment centered around virtue
    • Model appropriate participation in daily school prayers and weekly Mass
    • Collaboratively work as part of a team committed to excellent teaching and continued professional development outside school hours
    • A minimum of two years teaching experience preferably in a Catholic school
    • Hold a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline; Masters preferred
    • Hold a teaching certificate in WA state/other state or currently working towards one
    • Be a practicing Catholic willing to pledge fidelity to the Magisterium of the Catholic Church
    • Clear a background check and complete safe environment training

      Job Description
      Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic School, a PK-8th grade Catholic Liberal Arts School in Bremerton Washington, seeks a part-time music teacher. This teacher will guide our K-4 students to understand rhythm, the basics of note reading, different musical genres and much more.

      Our Lady Star of the Sea believes that our curriculum inspires students to seek the True, the Good, and the Beautiful. We work to help students better understand their humanity. We are seeking a teacher who will encourage a love of music that will ultimately inspire wonder about the world and promote the imitation of virtue.

      Salary
      Part-Time $20,500 - $30,000
      16 hours (2 days of work on campus)
      Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, degrees, and certifications.

      Benefits
      Over 30 hours per week - A comprehensive package of benefits is offered including two medical plan options, dental, vision, life, accidental death and disability, long term disability, pension, 403(b), HSA, FSA, and generous sick leave, vacation, and holidays.
