      Expected pay for this position is $25.10 - $29.54/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. This is a Salaried position.


      Overview

      POSITION SUMMARY: The Music Therapist is responsible for providing therapeutic music opportunities and assisting patients and families with coping skills during health care experiences. Music Therapist will utilize developmentally appropriate music activities to support patients and families to lessen the stress of the in-patient and out-patient experience. Scope of workload to include all pediatric inpatient populations and St. Jude Clinic.


      Qualifications

      REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

      Education:

      • Bachelor’s degree in music or music therapy

      Experience:

      • 2 years of music therapy experience in inpatient or outpatient setting working with children and families.

      Licensure/ Certification:

      • MT-BC (Board-certified Music Therapist)

      Other Skills/ Knowledge:

      • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
      • Pleasant singing voice, mastery of multiple instruments and songwriting skills.
      • Excellent technical computer skills, including video making and recording music.
      • Knowledge of psychology, medicine, child development and music.
      • Must know and adhere to the ethics of the American Music Association.
      • Working knowledge of Patient and Family-Centered Care.

      PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

      Other Skills/ Knowledge:

      • The ability to work independently while using sound judgment.
      • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
      • The ability to be culturally sensitive to the diversity of families in development and implementing supportive programs and services.
