      Job summary

A part time opportunity has arisen for an NSTEP Consultant on a part time basis

NSTEP is a countywide service with a north and south team. The teams work as one service to deliver NICE concordant care to service users as per national EIP standards. The service continues to develop and expand with a recent EIP successful funding bid to enable this.

N-STEP accepts all referrals for people aged 14-65 with first episode psychosis or suspected psychosis. This is made with consideration of the individual's needs and risk.

      Main duties of the job

Responsible for providing Consultant input to the Early intervention Team (N-STEP team South)

Responsible for joint urgent, routine and complex case assessment and management, including new referral assessments of service users within the south N-STEP service, working together in an enthusiastic and experienced Multidisciplinary team.

Play a key role with patients on CTO's and would be the first port of call for potential MHA assessments for the team. The post holder would attend tribunal meetings when patients are on CTO's. The average number of CTO's across the service in the last 3 years (2020 & 2021) have been 4 -6 (which equates to 2-4% of the overall EIP caseload).

The job description is subject to Royal College of Psychiatry approval.

  • About the company

National Health Service (NHS) is the umbrella term for the publicly-funded healthcare systems of the United Kingdom (UK). The founding principles were that services should be comprehensive, universal and free at the point of delivery—a health service based on clinical need, not ability to pay. Each service provides a comprehensive range of health services, free at the point of use for people ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom apart from dental treatment and optical care.
