- Support all activities necessary to ensure that the Trust meets the agreed KPIs, quality standards and responsibilities for looked after children and young people
- Coordinate the provision of local health services for individual LAC
- Input into health assessments and their reviews for individual LAC.
- Ensure the timeliness and quality of health assessments for LAC and ensure actions taken to implement the health care plan are tracked
- Act as a key conduit and contact point for the child and their carer, where they have difficulties accessing health services.
- Lead a team of specialist nurses for LAC and provide supervision to ensure that clinical expertise is maintained.
- Provide information to commissioners (Designated Nurse) and the local authority in relation to the effective provision of services.
- Significant relevant post registration experience working as a LAC specialist nurse.

Job summary
Barts Health are looking for a Named Nurse for Looked after Children (LAC) to support the care and wellbeing of children who are looked after in Tower Hamlets.
The Named Nurse for LAC will support the implementation of service development, standard setting, clinical audit and benchmarking, to deliver needs-led evidence-based care that supports the local and national priorities for children in care. In addition, the post holder will support the Designate nurse for LAC in the strategic development of nursing services across Tower Hamlets and beyond, to ensure that statutory responsibilities are met. This post holder will manage the LAC nursing team and participate in the care and assessment of children who are looked after, planning their care, supporting adoption processes and transition beyond care into adulthood.
This is an exciting role that will influence the future of looked after children beyond childhood. We invite applicants who are experienced specialist LAC nurses who also have a nursing, health visiting or School Nursing background and a passion for driving down health inequalities.
