Edit dialogue and unvoiced game text for consistency, style, clarity, concision, voice, and IP accuracy, working with the writers and other designers of specific plots to produce a high-quality narrative experience.

Ensure the technical elements of game dialogue are consistent and accurate, including VO line notes, flags for tone and volume, situation synopses, ESRB flags

Maintain IP documentation for projects, and coordinate other writing/editing team members who contribute to these resources.

Liaise between the writing, editing, voice-over, and localization teams as game dialogue is recorded and localised.

Be a IP resource for the VO and localization teams, and the actors/directors/translators who work with them, to answer questions, provide story and character background.

Work with BioWare’s business development team to provide IP/game information for multiple ancillary products created by teams outside the studio, such as game guides, novels, apps.

Field editing tasks from other company departments through Editing Help Tickets.

University degree in communications, English, journalism, or other applicable field or 2-3 years of professional editing experience in a creative field like games, film, television, newspapers, or magazines.

Familiarity with video games and the unique ways they can be used to tell stories.

Experience with web-based documentation

Experience with organising, editing and completing a variety of tasks simultaneously

Experience with highly creative, team-based environments
BioWare creates games focused on rich stories, unforgettable characters and vast worlds. It operates primarily out of Edmonton (Alberta, CAN) and Austin (Texas, USA) creating some of the world's most critically acclaimed titles since 1995. The studio is currently working on future game experiences for the Mass Effect™ franchise, one of the highest rated video game series of all time, and the Dragon Age™ franchise, whose latest entry won 150+ Game of the Year awards.
BioWare is one of the few video game studios to employ in-house editors. As members of the design team, editors ensure the writing produced for games and other projects by our studios meets the quality level expected of BioWare.
Reporting to the Lead Editor, BioWare’s editors work with writers on voiced and non-voiced text, polishing the writing and liaising with members of related teams including voice-over, localization, and quality assurance. They also assist with project and IP documentation and help maintain company-wide standards of writing consistency and accuracy.
This is a 6 month temporary role.

BASE SALARY RANGES

º $95,450 - $141,800 USD Annually
º New York (depending on location e.g. Manhattan vs. Buffalo):
º $89,200 - $141,800 USD Annually
º Jersey City, NJ :
º $105,250 - $141,800 USD Annually
º Colorado (depending on location e.g. Denver vs. Colorado Springs):
º $89,200 - $118,550 USD Annually
º Washington (depending on location e.g. Seattle vs. Spokane):
º $89,200 - $130,750 USD Annually
º British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria):
º $77,600 - $119,000 CAN Annually
Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. In the US, we offer a package of benefits including paid time off (3 weeks per year to start), 80 hours per year of sick time, 16 paid company holidays per year, medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and 401(k) to temporary full-time employees scheduled to work full time. In British Columbia, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, and after 3 months of service - extended health/dental/vision coverage and basic life insurance.
