      ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW

      East Bay Agency for Children’s (EBAC) mission is to improve the well-being of children, youth, and families by reducing the impact of trauma and social inequities. EBAC strives to reduce barriers that contribute to disparities in wellness for socio-economically disadvantaged and racially marginalized families and to create communities where all children and families have support systems to reach their full potential.

      EBAC was established in 1952 when a group of parents of children with autism wanted to give their children the same educational and recreational opportunities that contribute to the physical well-being and social growth of all children. From this was born the first day-treatment program west of the Mississippi and was the foundation of growth in meeting the needs of children and families living in the San Francisco Bay Area, and especially in Alameda County.

      Today, EBAC’s programs serve over 10,000 children, youth and families throughout Alameda County each year with the goal of giving each child and family the specific resources, skills, and support they need to help them reach their full potential.       POSITION OVERVIEW

      The Navigator Supervisor assists and works with the Program Director to provide program support, leadership/coaching, and other supports to team members, to ensure that staff feel supported in their work, well-being, and are confident in their abilities to provide trauma-informed interventions that are aimed at decreasing mental health symptoms and recidivism, while increasing healthy coping skills, and promoting life skills for East Bay youth within the School Based Behavioral Health Program.

      POSITION REPORTS TO: SBBH Program Director

      QUALIFICATIONS and COMPETENCY FACTORS

      1. Master’s degree in Social Work or related fields and 2 years of clinical experience (mandatory). Clinical license in social work preferred but not required.
      2. Experience working with low-income, diverse ethnic communities and multi-cultural settings preferred.
      3. Successful multi-site supervision and management experience preferred.
      4. Demonstrated history of culturally informed practices and a desire to actively participate in a multicultural learning environment.
      5. Prior personnel management experience preferred.
      6. Excellent supervisory, administrative, written and oral communication skills.
      7. Ability and willingness to review as well as maintain clear and complete records, meet deadlines for written reports, and compile and report monthly statistics.
      8. Ability to speak effectively before groups of youths, mental health professionals, parents and/or guardians, teachers, school administrators, interns or volunteers.
      9. Minimum of 2 years of experience working with urban youth in a mental health or community-based setting.
      10. Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team and with other community partners.
      11. Must be familiar with mental health processes and be able to identify when there may be a mental health issue with a client.
      12. Ability to drive with a valid California driver’s license and current auto insurance as well as access to and use of a vehicle as needed.
      13. Knowledge of and familiarity with the assigned community.
      14. Ability to be creative and yet maintain boundaries while developing and sustaining relationships with youth.
      15. Language skills that include the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals; ability to write routine status reports and correspondence; ability to use a computerized database.
      16. Spanish Bilingual Preferred

      RESPONSIBILITIES

      1. Provide trauma informed 1:1 and group coaching to promote overall well-being and ongoing development of Navigators.
      2. Support integration of Navigators into school sites and work in collaboration with clinicians in implementing skill-based rehabilitation services.
      3. Develop and lead trauma informed trainings as needed. Give input on training needs of Navigators and provide training when needed.
      4. Maintain relations with school site principal, personnel, and support staff in their relationships at school sites and ensure systems are set up for success.
      5. Review documentation to ensure services meet Alameda County Behavioral Health EPSDT standards and EBAC stated best practices.
      6. Support milieu settings as needed and provide direct service when required.
      7. Supports staff in meeting program service delivery and caseload expectations, and provides supervisees with ongoing feedback to monitor progress towards expectations and evaluations.
      8. Monitors supervisee’s work schedules and informs Program Director of any issues, absences, and vacations.
      9. Record progress notes, coach Navigators in documentation and other charting requirements in a timely fashion.
      10. Consult with the SBBH Program Director, clinicians and others as needed regarding individual client progress.
      11. Maintain agency, legal and ethical standards of practice.
      12. Provide necessary training for onboarding of new staff.
      13. Perform other duties as assigned.

      WORKING CONDITIONS and JOB SETTING

      1. Work is primarily in the community supporting youth/and or their families, with some work taking place in office/school settings.
      2. Because work is directly with youth, full mobility is required for standing, walking, sitting, using hands, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
      3. Providing community-based services to at-promised youth who are impacted by trauma and poverty.
      4. Ability to drive with valid driver's license, auto insurance, and access to use of an automobile as needed.
