Job Description

- Serve as the Senior Science Naval Instructor (SNSI) and Senior instructional leader at the School assigned
- Implement the Program of Instruction (POI) as outlined by the US Navy Cadet Command.
- Maintain military proficiency on topics taught in the JROTC curriculum by attending JSOCC as required and distance learning (DL).
- Support and attend annual JCLC (Summer Camp); required, no exceptions.
- Become familiar with and use cadet’s command’s JUMS, JCIMS and Portal Systems.
- Administer and manage the JROTC program according to law, Navy regulations and district policy.
- Actively recruit students to enroll in JROTC programs and maintain, exceed cadet enrollment requirements.
- Receive, store, safeguard, issue and account for all government property assigned to the school.
- Ensure that the JROTC facilities provided are adequate and not only meet but exceed military requirements.
- Have a keen knowledge of administrative and supply operations.
- Supervise and support Naval Science Instructors (NSI’s) assigned to you and provide additional duties as required.
- Participate in all functions directed by the Director of Army Instruction (DAI).
- Make sure that the curriculum of instruction is divided equally among you and the instructors under you and that they are taught according to the LET level daily.
- Conduct a public affairs program directed toward the school, school district, community and civic groups to further enhance their understanding and mission of the JROTC program.
- Make sure all reports requested by the DAI are turned in on or before deadline.
- Attend all scheduled or called SNSI meetings.
- Ensure that no coaching of any sports or similar activities by you and the NSI’s outside of the JROTC Department, unless approved by the DAI, BDE CRS, AC, IAW CCR 145-2, Chap 5 para 5-9, a (7), pg. 67. Perform any and all related duties as assigned by the DAI or principal.
- US Navy/Marine Corps, or Coast Guard retired officer (grade W2 thru O6), with a minimum of 20 years of active duty military service.
- Not retired longer than six (6) years.
- Must hold a rank of W2 or above with a bachelor’s degree.
- Meet current Navy/Marine Corps physical and weight standards as outlined in Navy Reg 145-2.
- Be certified as JROTC Instructor by Navy/US Marine Corps Cadet Command.
- Wear the Navy/Marine Corps uniform and meet personal grooming standards as outlined in Navy/USMC Reg 670-1.
- Baccalaureate degree, Preferred Masters degree and a graduate of US Marine Corps CGSC.
- Able to communicate effectively, orally and in writing with students, parents, other teachers and school administrators.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Travel throughout the district is integral to this job. A remote working environment /alternate work arrangement is not an option for campus-based employees/campus-based positions because regular and punctual attendance at the worksite and performing all duties at the worksite are essential job duties for all campus-based personnel.About the company
