- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a patient-facing role is preferred.
- Previous experience as a Nursing Assistant or Unit Secretary highly preferred.
- Performs approved tasks delegated by RN.
- Logs patient data for admits, discharges, and transfers. Performs order entry, materials management, work requisitions, and patient demographic functions of the Meditech computer system.
- Assembles patient charts, enters patient demographics and orders lab work into the computer.
- Applies monitor leads, temperature probes, and blood pressure cuffs correctly to infants. Performs measurement of infant axillary temperatures. Reports ISC/Air set temperature settings as directed by RNs.
- Assists parents with removing from/placing infants in isolettes and cribs. Collects soiled linens/developmental care products. Maintains unit's supply of clean linen.
- Performs and reports the following to RNs: feeding of infants, burps infants, measures feeding amounts, weighs infant's diapers and stools/void appropriately and correctly.
- Performs infant baths. Weighs infant appropriately. Changes infant's diapers and applies ordered diaper creams/ointment as indicated.
- Transports specimens, blood products, medications, messages and other items as requested by nurse, physician and others.
- Maintains and cleans unit equipment as needed.
- Discharges/transfers infants according to hospital policy.
- Screens visitors prior to entry into the unit.
- Maintains appropriate levels of all bedside supplies. Unpacks and stocks diapers, formula and other unit supplies.
- Reports necessary information to RN staff as indicated. Accepts supervision from RN staff.
- Perform other duties assigned by Department management according to policies and procedures and the mission of Woman's Hospital.
As a Level III Regional Referral Center, Woman’s is part of a select group of hospitals in the nation who can provide quality care for the smallest and sickest babies. Our unit is designed to focus on intensive care, while encouraging family bonding. Our designation as a Level III Regional Referral Center means we have a neonatologist and anesthesiologist available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our caring team of neonatologists and specially trained nurses monitor the baby’s condition at all times by direct observation, and by using the latest specialized equipment and technology available. We also participate in the Vermont Oxford Quality Improvement Collaborative with 500 other NICUs across the country to keep abreast of the latest research and emerging practices that offer the best care for premature and critically ill babies.

Days (6:30am to 7pm); Three 12-hour shifts per week with weekend and holiday requirements.
Nights (6:30pm to 7am); Three 12-hour shifts per week with weekend and holiday requirements.
