About the Role:
Reporting to the Manager, Network Operations South, within areas of network analyst, network technology and Video over IP and/or Voice over IP you will be responsible for handling the incident management queue for network related calls, creating operational technical procedures for tier 2 support resolutions as well as collaborating with other agencies and vendors. You will also work on projects related to network operations, such as application/device monitoring, configuration management, knowledge base document creation, and implementing standards for the enterprise. You will also continually research and evaluate new and emerging operational Standards and recommend the use of these operational standards for the enterprise.
Typical Daily Duties:
• Monitor network health and performance of switches, routers and circuits.
• Respond to support requests and incidents related wired and wireless networks.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose issues.
• Collaborating within a team dynamic to solve complex issues.
• Communicate with end-users to gather additional information and provide updates on support requests.
• Create and maintain support documentation, including knowledge documents, work standards, and training materials.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as system upgrades, patches, and backups.
• Collaborate with other IT teams, such as Systems, Deskside, Core Network and Security, to ensure system integration and compatibility.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation to increase efficiency and reduce errors.
• Participate in cross training within team.
• Participate in change management.
• Participate in on-call rotation and after-hours support as needed.
• Participate in eHS and SHA projects.
• Travel within the province and surrounding area as required to maintain site equipment.
To qualify for this position, you will have knowledge/experience in the following:
• Cisco network devices such as switches and routing configuration;
• Theory of LAN, MAN & WAN technologies, communications & equipment, network & desktop operating systems and wireless technologies
• Wireless Networking
• Basic understanding of Network Protocols
• Knowledge/experience of Video over IP and/or Voice over IP
• Cisco CCNA certifications or other network related certifications would be considered to be an asset
• Knowledge of Enterprise Monitoring concepts
• ITIL service delivery concepts, with a focus on Change, Incident, Problem and Service request management
• Knowledge-based document creation concepts
• Troubleshoot problems and identify resources required to solve issues
• Knowledge of SaskTel Community Net would be an asset.The knowledge and skills required for this position would be attained by the completion of a post-secondary degree or diploma in a computer science program or a related area of study from a recognized post-secondary technical institute. 3 years of experience working within an IT/Health support environment. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.
