      Position Overview

      The Network Architect is responsible for developing, enhancing, maintaining and troubleshooting network infrastructure related hardware, operating systems, firewalls, configuration changes, system performance, and other technologies as described below. Architectural design work includes placement and specification of servers, routers, switches, firewall, remote access systems and network management systems. Provides technical assistance and mentoring to other team members and customers.


      Essential Duties

      • Design and develop complex networking architecture to support existing and future connectivity with OCHIN and members to support continued growth.
      • Proactively examine current networking architecture to identify areas of improvement.
      • Determine technical strategy, framework, and tools to support networking architectures.
      • Assist with technical escalations as needed to support the team, Epic EMR, and other integrations as required.
      • Act as a consultant to team regarding design and support as needed by OCHIN leadership.
      • Provide hands-on technical expertise to solve for both internal and external networking needs.
      • Provide support and leadership for new and evolving network technologies across the team in order to meet requirements for strategic plans, projects, and rapid growth.
      • Responsible for defining OCHIN’s network architectural strategies and processes.
      • Make network architectural and design decisions to ensure long-term supportability.
      • Provide primary oversight on scoping and identifying network requirement.
      • Scope, create, and document network architectural designs and proactively review, revise, and improve existing ones.
      • Attend and lead calls as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) and OCHIN’s representative and work with vendors to assess and review technical scoping requirements and solutions; participate in design and scoping sessions.
      • Provide technical mentorship to the OCHIN teams from scoping to designing to ensure the detailed specifications from Members, or OCHIN will be configured to meet the operational need as well as fulfill OCHIN’s vision.
      • Ensures the network and system architectures are in synchronization.
      • Act as an ambassador and liaison between the teams that own different components of the overall architecture to ensure cross-functionality and efficient development of the system.
      • Will provide guidance and support for documentation.
      • Provides expert level networking support to members and OCHIN team members.
      • Ability to provide high level project analysis and planning.
      • May take on a lead role in medium to large projects that may include:
      • Design, analysis and implementation, along with supporting the overall business and project plan by identifying and providing deliverables, assisting project managers on tracking key decision points and technical timelines.
      • Works as a key team member to ensure the project or team performance & outcomes are met relative to established project goals and measurements.
      • Assists the project manager in identifying risk.
      • Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple networking sources and vendors, reconcile conflicts, and distinguish requests from the underlying true needs, and distinguish solution ideas from requirements.
      • Successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously.
      • Other duties as assigned
