      Network Operations Engineer – Intermediate.

      Atkins Realis is seeking an experienced Intermediate Network Engineer to join our world-class IT team to fill a permanent full-time role located in Mississauga, Ontario. You will join the network engineering team to provide network designs, and low-level designs and perform day-to-day operations.

      As an Intermediate Network Engineer, you will be one of the Engineers responsible for creating and implementing small and medium designs, sometimes without the guidance of the manager. The role holder will also be responsible for supporting resolution of technical issues.

      In addition, he/she may work proactively with the Lead Technical Designers to define new product developments.

      Location: Mississauga, ON.

      Your role within the team:

      • To work on technical projects and day-to-day operational support for the business.
      • Producing network designs to meet business needs and following current standards.
      • Work independently with minimal guidance. This may involve working alone or as part of a wider project/support team, managing specific tasks.
      • Have an appreciation and general understanding of networking trends.
      • Is result-oriented and has a high degree of commitment and responsibility.
      • The expectation is that they drive their projects to time, quality, and cost.
      • Able to resolve network incidents.
      • Lead on small and medium complex projects and support in the implementation.
      • Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation.

      The ideal candidate:

      • Good experience with network technologies in a global business or similar.
      • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication, both verbal and written, skills
      • English at a near-native level.
      • Able to demonstrate detailed knowledge and understanding of networking concepts.
      • Skills covering a broad range of network technologies such as Cisco, Checkpoint, and F5 Big IP would be an asset.
      • Experience working with cloud service providers and outsourcers.
      • Hands-on experience in design, configuration, and management covering several of the following technical areas in a global organization.
      • Network monitoring.
      • WAN design and technologies.
      • LAN design and technologies.
      • WLAN design and technologies.
      • The ability to obtain a security clearance of Level II – Secret is required.

      • Proven experience in delivering process efficiencies and improvements.
      • Ability to build and maintain efficient working relationships with remote teams.
      • Demonstrate ability to take ownership of and accountability for relevant products and services.
      • Ability to plan, prioritize and complete your work, whilst remaining a team player.
      • Willingness to engage with and work in other technologies.

      Education and Experience:

      • BS or BA in computer science or related IT experience.
      • 5+ years of administration and support of Switches, Routers, Firewalls, and Wi-fi, in a large, networked computing environment.
      • Certifications such as CCNA are a definite asset.
