Job Summary:
The Network Specialist is a vital and supportive member of the PCSD team, working collaboratively with educators, support staff, and administration to achieve the shared goal of ensuring all students receive the education they need to succeed both today and tomorrow. This role is performed within a school environment, overseen by the Director Network Operations, where teamwork and dedication to student success are paramount.All staff are expected to fully adhere to the ethical standards set forth by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission, continuously demonstrating a strong understanding of the tasks and responsibilities their roles require. Moreover, they must embody the core belief that every action we take is driven by a commitment to the best interests of our students.

Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent experience) in Information Systems that provides current industry principles and practices of designing, developing and managing enterprise level networks and technologies
· Minimum five years of experience in technology systems support including network engineering, fiber-optic network infrastructure installation, network switch configuration and routing, network security, wireless controller configuration, firewall and content filter management, Alcatel-Lucent network management experience preferred
· Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and manage changing priorities.
· Proven ability to be flexible and work hard, both independently and as part of a team.
· Excellent English oral and written communication skills.
Knowledge & Duties:
· Understands the general objectives of the organization.
· Knowledge of fiber and cabling for network infrastructure.
· Ability to perform technical adjustments and installs technical updates to system.
· Working knowledge of network devices including Alcatel switches, wireless connectivity and access points.
· Supports existing products and services by acting as an agent for problem and operational issue resolution.
· Knowledge of video surveillance NVRs and cameras.
· Knowledge of Board policies, State and Federal regulations as applies to local school districts.
Essential Functions
1.01
Maintains and documents equipment and enterprise application maintenance schedules
1.02
Installs new fiber and cabling for network infrastructure including splicing and termination
1.03
Maintains fiber drops and switches for the district
1.04
Installs wireless access points and video surveillance cameras
1.05
Configures, installs and maintains all network devices including Alcatel switches for classroom connectivity, wireless connectivity, wireless access points, wireless controllers, video surveillance NVRs and cameras
1.06
Manages and supports network monitoring software and monitors the status of network devices
1.07
Manages and supports the network firewall for access and routing
1.08
Manages and supports the wireless controllers and wireless networks
1.09
Maintains and documents network access and control procedures

Manages network, server, and application performance, taking action as appropriate

Maintains and supports internet and network security appliances
1.12
Participates in the resolution of service requests following escalation from technicians
1.13
Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
