- Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, computer programming, information technologies, or a closely related field; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience in supporting or maintaining wide and/or local area network communication systems, including router/switch hardware, cabling, networking transport protocols, and network monitoring system software; or equivalent combination of education and experience in supporting or maintaining server hosting infrastructure including server hardware, storage arrays, cloud services, messaging systems, directory administration and user application software.
- Be a citizen/naturalized citizen or permanent resident alien without conditions on status of the United States of America by the date of the first test instrument
- Be at least 18 years old by the date of the first test instrument
- Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a valid, appropriate Nevada driver license.
- Possession of any of the following certifications is desirable: Certifications obtained through the American Management Association, Microsoft Certified Professional Program, Cisco Internetworking Certification Program, Certified Information Systems Security Professional, or any other approved professional management/supervisory and/or information technology certification.
- Experience and/or familiarity with Microsoft Azure/Entra ID, Microsoft Sentinel, and other SIEM solutions.
- Experience or familiarity with Microsoft Server Operating Systems and software.
- Experience and/or familiarity with enterprise storage systems/solutions and enterprise compute hardware.
- Experience and/or familiarity with hypervisor management solutions and enterprise backup solutions.
- Experience installing and maintaining wide and/or local area network systems within the last five years.
- Professional certifications from industry standard vendors such as CompTia, Microsoft, and others.
- Personal Appearance: While on duty, and/or representing the Department, uniformed or otherwise, all Department employees will be neat and clean in their appearance in public. Employees are prohibited from attaching, affixing, or displaying objects, articles or jewelry on or through the nose, tongue, eyebrow or other exposed body part, except the ears for females, while on duty. Employees are prohibited from stretching or gauging their earlobes. All jewelry implants will not be exposed or visible while on duty. Tattoos or branding will not be exposed or visible while on duty and/or representing the Department. Such markings must be covered by clothing. Markings that cannot be covered by clothing will be covered using neutral-toned bandages or patches except for hands, neck, head, or face tattoos. Makeup is not permissible to cover a tattoo. Tattoos or branding anywhere on the body that promote racism/discrimination, indecency, extremist or supremacist philosophies, lawlessness, violence, or contain sexually explicit material are prohibited.
- Participate in the LVMPD Mental Wellness Program.
- Are expected to pass a Bureau proficiency test upon completion of 24 months of service to obtain Conditional Progression to Network Systems Analyst II.
- Are subject to callout on a 24-hour basis, which requires the employees to live within the jurisdiction of LVMPD, i.e. a 25-mile radius starting at Sahara and Valley View Blvd.
- Are required to maintain a valid, appropriate Nevada driver license.
- Vision sufficient to read the computer screen, as well as fine prints in documents.
- Hearing sufficient to hear conversations and directions in person and over the telephone.
- Dexterity and mobility sufficient to work in the office, use standard office equipment, drive a motor vehicle to visit various Department offices, and, if assigned, conduct travels both within and outside the state.
- Strength sufficient to lift and carry light items, such as stacks of files.
- Endurance sufficient to stand or sit for long periods of time, as necessary.

Salary Information:
The salary for this position is negotiated through a collective bargaining agreement. All new employees will be hired at the minimum salary in the range and will be eligible for merit increases until reaching the maximum salary in the range.

Those items permitted will be left to the discretion of the LVMPD employees administering the examination and may be subject to a search.

If you successfully complete the above selection process, you will undergo a thorough background investigation, including a polygraph exam.
