      The Network and Edge group (NEX) at Intel drives the software-defined transformation of the world's infrastructure - in data centers, in networks, and at the edge. The NEX Chief Strategy Office is chartered with both identifying the forces shaping the future and the strategic inflections points they are creating, as well as defining NEX's response to those. We translate strategic questions into distinct initiatives that deliver growth through actionable strategies.

      Join the Network and Edge Group (NEX) to plan, develop and sell infrastructure acceleration solutions using Infrastructure Processing Units (IPU) in the Cloud, Telco and Enterprise market segments.

      Responsibilities may be quite diverse of a technical nature. U.S. experience and education requirements will vary significantly depending on the unique needs of the job. Job assignments are usually for the summer or for short periods during breaks. Used for jobs with a higher market rate than standard tech jobs.

      The Link Applications Engineering team is looking for a qualified and motivated undergraduate intern. We are diverse and technical team supporting Ethernet link technologies across the Intel Ethernet Product Division portfolio, as a part of the Technology and Link Enablement Team within the Network and Edge Group.

      Team responsibilities include engineering product solutions in partnership with customers and design engineering teams, interoperability testing for product releases, and debugging PHY and link issues. We maintain technical expertise in the areas of Ethernet PHY and link technologies with a focus on the latest and upcoming FNIC and IP product lines. The team provides a dynamic work environment with many opportunities to grow, learn and contribute to the success of Intel's leading edge Ethernet products.

      We will make an effort to align intern projects with the employee's interests and career goals. Under the guidance of a mentor, your project responsibilities may include:

      • Design and development of test boards and fixtures for wired networking systems that integrate software, firmware, board, and silicon/SoC components
      • Testing and automation development of validation and interoperability test suites
      • Ethernet product customization and design enablement for non-standard customer use cases
      • Development and support of debug and DFX tools
      • Ethernet product electrical conformance test and measurement support

      Qualifications:

      Minimum Qualifications:

      • Current graduate student in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science or related program.
      • 3+ months experience with Python.



      Preferred Qualifications:

      • Basic Networking and Ethernet knowledge
      • Programming skills/experience with C/C++, assembly, other languages
      • Basic schematic/board design experience
      • Code repository management experience
      • Previous engineering internship/work experience

      Annual Salary Range for jobs which could be performed in the US:

      $63,000.00-$166,000.00

      S al ary range dependent on a number of factors including location and experience.
