      The purpose of this classification is to provide with minimal supervision routine technical support involving the installation and maintenance of the Hamilton County Department of Education’s network and provide technical support to helpdesk and computer technicians installing, troubleshooting and repairing user access to network and Wi-Fi resources.


      Responsibilities

      Employees in this position have demonstrated the knowledge and skills to be a small group support team leader in the field, to work as part of a team, or work independently. Routine tasks are accomplished with minimal supervision.

      • Assists in the installation, configuration and maintenance of network hardware and services including switches, routers and access points.
      • Troubleshoots network hardware and software problems.
      • Installs and upgrades network software/hardware.
      • Utilizes appropriate tools and systems to monitor network utilization.
      • Utilizes appropriate tools and systems to troubleshoot user devices in relation to their access to network related services.
      • Analyzes, detects and remediates connectivity and performance problems on HCDE network.
      • Demonstrates the use of installed network resources to end users.
      • Follows established procedures to ensure assigned areas/work areas are safe.
      • Works collaboratively with administrators, faculty, and staff.
      • Attends work regularly and arrives to work on time.
      • Maintains confidentiality.
      • Adheres to the Teacher Code of Ethics.
      • Maintains and supplements records of network related hardware inventory.
      • Work evenings and weekends, sometimes with little advanced notice to resolve problems.
      • Performs other duties and responsibilities as necessary or as assigned.

      Qualifications

      Knowledge/Education/Experience:

      • High school diploma or GED supplemented by vocational/technical training in network support required.
      • Three (3) years of network support experience preferred.
      • Basic working knowledge of and experience with Microsoft infrastructure and networking technologies required.
      • Certifications in Microsoft and HP preferred.
      • Or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.

      Skills/Abilities:

      • Operate a motor vehicle to conduct site visits, perform repair/maintenance work, pick up or deliver computer components, or perform other work activities.
      • Demonstrates sufficient manual dexterity to operate machinery, equipment, and tools.

      Compensation:
      Salary is based on a combination of relevant education and experience.
      Grade F
      Salary Scale
