- Associate degree or equivalent technical school certification in electronics or telecommunications, or any equivalent combination of education and experience
- One year of related experience in the installation, construction, or maintenance of networks
- Must be able to work in a collaborative team environment.
- Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others
- Must have strong interpersonal skills
- Background in construction and cable installation
- Exposure to various operating systems (Unix, Windows), network architecture, network protocols, office software and understanding of building and construction codes
- Knowledge of current building and construction codes
- Knowledge of copper and fiber networking cabling standards
- BICSI Installer 1 Certification

What we want
The Network Technician II is responsible for assisting in the installation, construction, and maintenance of the University’s networks. Assists in network hardware installation, maintenance, and network troubleshooting. This position requires occasional supervision, guidance, and training. Responsibilities:
Network Installations and Technical Support
Assist in the installation of unshielded twisted pair cable and fiber optic cables. Test and certify network components to required installation standards using various low voltage and light-source cabling testing equipment. Assist with on-site planning of small network construction and cabling installations. Configure network switchports and diagnose installed LAN equipment. Maintain and replace legacy LAN infrastructure.
Administrative and Customer Support
Close out assigned service requests. Perform cable & switchport documentation. Schedule light carpentry and mechanical duties. Follow-up with customers via in-person/phone/email. Complete small assignments utilizing circuit records, network commands, and diagnostic facilities. Assist in the maintenance of documentation of installation activities and network connections. Document physical network changes for updating of network maps. Update supply/equipment inventory and network databases. Check for billing accuracy.
