- This post is based at Homerton Healthcare and at outpatient clinics within Hackney and the City.
- As a newborn hearing screener, you will work primarily with mothers and their newborn babies (0-7 days old) including premature babies and those that need Special and Intensive Care. Therefore, experience of handling babies is essential and working with children and families would be desirable.
- You will be expected to work under pressure and prioritise heavy workloads at all times.
- Experience of working in a hospital environment would be an added advantage.
- Interpersonal and basic computing skills.
- Willingness to learn, develop and excel in the skill of screening babies.
- Travelling to outpatient clinics within Hackney will be required.
- Must be flexible with start and finish times and work on weekends and bank holidays in line with service needs.
- If you do not have an OSCE/ECA certification in Newborn Hearing Screening, you would need to commit to obtaining a Level 3 Health Screener Diploma within 18 months (fully paid for by the service).
- The post holder will act under the leadership and management of the NHSP Local Manager and be responsible for carrying out hearing screening on babies in both inpatient and outpatient settings as required.
- The post holder will also have shared responsibility in ensuring the recording, collection and data quality of all patient data for the service.
- The post holder will carry out the necessary administrative tasks associated with the patient journey.
- The post holder will be expected to work as part of a team, altering working patterns to accommodate the changing needs of the service, across 7 days a week, 365 days a year with regular working during weekends (Saturdays and Sundays), bank and public holidays including on Christmas day.
- GCSE passes (A-C) English and Maths or equivalent
- NNEB/BTEC/NVQ in childcare or any other childcare related qualification
- Commitment to continuing professional development
- Ongoing commitment to the role and support to the service
- Understanding of the Trust values
- Working with babies 0 - 3 months old in a hospital or nursery setting
- Demonstrable experience of setting up and maintaining accurate records
- Proven experience of working and communicating with the general public

- Ability to work as part of a team and to work to a high standard without constant instruction or supervision

- Ability to relate in a sensitive manner to vulnerable clients
