      Position Specific Description

      We are seeking motivated interns to support our mission of powering lives with clean, affordable energy. As an intern, you will gain hands-on experience working on meaningful projects and have exposure to various areas of our business. The n ature of the role requires maintaining relationships with multiple external companies and internal business units to help projects to completion. The right candidat will be r esponsible for the development and integration of new or existing applications into the technical infrastructure and existing business processes. Provides technical or functional guidance to project and work teams as needed within a specific discipline.

      The candidate will have exposure to a wide variety of business functions including Power Generation, Asset Management, Power Trading, Remote Operations Control Center, Engineering & Construction and Development.

      Potential Opportunities Include:

      • Conduct research to support business initiatives
      • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on assigned tasks
      • Present findings and deliver final work to leadership
      • Develop technical, problem-solving, and soft skills
      • Participate in professional development programs
      • New Process Design - Research, conduct competitive analysis, plan for and/or assist in deployment of technologies focused on system management and automation

      Potential Summer projects may include:

      • Process mapping - Map out the current state of a key data workflow/process and identify areas for improvement. This lays the groundwork for defining metrics.
      • Data collection & analysis - Work with stakeholders to understand pain points. Conduct time studies, surveys, etc. to quantify defects, rework, wait times in the process.
      • Define metrics - Work with BRM to establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the current process and track improvements.
      • Pareto analysis - Analyze collected data to identify the most impactful sources of waste/inefficiency (e.g. 80/20 rule). Prioritize these for improvement projects.
      • Root cause analysis - Dive deeper into a high-priority problem area to determine true root causes. Conduct 5 Whys, fishbone diagrams, etc.
      • Idea generation - Brainstorm potential solutions with team. Vet feasibility of ideas to eliminate waste/hand-offs from the process.
      • Pilot testing - Run a small test of a recommended solution. Collect before/after data to prove effectiveness for full rollout.

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • Candidate must have excellent written and oral communication skills, along with proficiency with Microsoft Office
      • Applicants should have experience working with others. Enthusiasm for the renewable energy space is appreciated.
      • Our team codes in Python, C#, C++ and uses relational databases (Oracle), AIX, and Linux
      • Applicants should feel comfortable with some of these technologies and have a desire to learn.
      • Knowledge of SAFE Agile Methodologies
      • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

      Job Overview

      To be considered for an internship, you must be actively enrolled at a college or university as a full-time student seeking a bachelor’s degree or higher. You must also have a current cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher (on a 0.00 to 4.00 scale).

      Job Duties & Responsibilities

      • Assists department with assigned projects
      • Completes challenging projects and assignments
      • Presents final project to senior leadership at the end of the internship
      • Assumes responsibility for own travel, lodging, and transportation necessary to be available for the program
      • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

      Required Qualifications

      • High school grad / GED
      • Maintain active enrollment in a Bachelor or higher degree program
      • Maintain cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
